Mulcahy to Washington

Garbage why ? Because I didn’t think he’d find a P5 starting spot ?

1. Maybe he will start
2. If so, UW is staring at a 57 ppg offense. Yay.
Because you made garage troll statements saying he was going to go to Elon or Loyola. You knew full well you were trolling and statements like that are why he left. Grow up.

It’s not about Paul

How can we not afford to beat out freaking Washington for an NIL deal?? That’s the problem

Death, taxes, the passive aggressive sojo comment where he claims total oblivion to realizing it was a passive aggressive comment meant to ruffle feathers
Passive aggressive behavior is typically exemplified by not doing something in order to annoy someone else. Calling out people's bad behavior doesn't seem to fit that category. But I could be missing something.

Best of luck to Paul. He picked a great school with a one of the most beautiful campuses I’ve ever been to that’s also so very far away from home. He’s obviously looking for a big change of pace. I hope he finds it and prospers.
Agree on it being great school and campus. Looking forward to seeing him when he plays at Cal.

They seem to feel his size puts him head and shoulders over the other PGs on roster when it comes to starting..

This site makes Paul look like a savior
Washington Lands Rutgers Transfer Guard Paul Mulcahy - Sports Illustrated Washington Huskies News, Analysis and More

>On the floor, Mulcahy is an excellent ball-handler, which Washington has dearly missed over the last few seasons. He can finish with either hand around the rim and can score from all three levels of the floor while also converting tough shots on a routine basis.

Defensively, he's a perfect fit for Hopkins' zone. He averaged 1.5 steals per game during his senior season and plays with a lot of energy and aggression. His intelligence and timing when it comes to disrupting passing lanes might remind some Husky fans of Matisse Thybulle.

In what looks to be the final move of the offseason, this is a big win for the Husky staff. Mulcahy picked Washington over Notre Dame and Xavier and could be just what the Huskies need to turn the program around after missing the NCAA Tournament for four straight seasons.<

He will be a good zone defender and an excellent weak side rebounder, but finish around the basket with both hands? I'm not sure I saw him use his left hand to finish around the basket more than two or three times in four years.

I liked Paul and am sorry he will no longer be at RU. He was a big part of our ending the NCAA drought. He picked RU and gave us so much in his four years and represented RU with his own foundation, giving gift cards to the pep band and other people at RU. He also was a very good leader and captain. He loved it at RU but so many on here ripped him constantly this past season when he was injured and still gave 100 %. Many on here were relentless in criticizing him. I think that is why he left. I wish him well at Washington and in his future in life.

What’s trolling ? I just didn’t think he’s a P5 caliber starting basketball player. Still don’t. And on top of that, criticism comes with the territory. This isn’t youth sports.

Did Paul seriously get $400k? Hard to believe, but tip of the cap if he did. UW seems unreal. Beautiful campus and a beautiful city.

Didn’t want him back. Many here did. Many here want him to lead the team next year. Instead he walked out on his teammates (I think he made the right call, but most people were very upset by this.

I Said it was a joke he won that award. Of course it was. But I never made anything personal like most people did after they spent weeks praising him as a person in parallel to ripping cam.

This is a good thing for everyone involved but so many posters (post quoted a good example) can’t let it go and have made it personal.

I think you’re way over estimating folks who talked bad or turned on Paul.

There are always going to be a handful of trolls or aholes no matter what the topic is.

How many players these days do?

I don’t think lefty layups or bunnies from the left side are ‘textbook’ anymore. The current thing is to extend the inside hand/arm/shoulder into the challenging defender to create contact or force him away from the ball.

Then you're the dumbest fan ever for your comments. So either trolling or dumb.
You knew full well he was getting serious NIL money from major P6 schools as it was reported in lots of places. Your Loyola/ Elon comment was to troll. And if you believed it then you have no bball iq

It's not a question if we could - but would we want to?

I think it's crazy people are spending $1,000 to buy Taylor Swift tickets while others would consider that a huge deal.
Same is for players.
Just because some mid-major values Dean Reiber at $75k doesn't mean Rutgers does.

The B1G put him in the honorable mention category

but I can understand your not wanting to admit Paul was a pretty good player and , though not a great one, deserved to start when he was at Rutgers.
Heck I refused to admit Micheal Jordan was as good as people said and
my opinion of LeBron James is the same.
Paul might not hold a candle to them, but the flame of denial burns as bright in your assessment of Paul as mine does for the two I don't like

I brought this up and was told how I don't understand basketball by some (it was the video of his first basket at Rutgers).
Paul himself even said he should have used it left hand probably.

First play of the next game, Paul tried to use his right hand on the left side and got easily blocked.

I'm sure it's not all about NIL and I think he would have taken considerably less to remain at RU had they expressed more of an interest in him returning. Washington isn't paying him $400,000 to come off the bench and Larry Brown knows what he's looking at and how to best utilize his talent at least as much as Pike and staff, probably more so. My guess is he has the best year of his college career.

OK, by that logic alone, kids should be shooting with there left hand from the right side. The truth is it's too much work to become a good shooter with your weak hand. Just take the shot you are more likely to make from a young age.

Washington isn’t paying him anything and certainly isn’t guaranteeing him major PT. It’s got to be earned like everywhere else. And with all due respect to the Hall of Famer, he doesn’t know any more than Pike about getting the most out of Paul. Paul presumably fits their expected system next year, which he wouldnt here.

Yes, that’s part of it. Dominant hand. But what I said is also true. It’s not the way it’s coached anymore.

While I agree with you if you’re a public figure this will happen no matter where you go. There are lots of miserable people out there
Yup and misery loves company which is why they flock together.

Good luck Paul and thank you for doing nothing but win while here.

He wasn’t trolling he was Shelbying. He’s worse over on the Football forum.

Yeah, football is much more of a shitshow that needs calling out.

I think Pike is doing a great job, and the team has more upside with Paul gone. If thinking he’s not good enough to start with this roster is considered trolling, then so be it.

And you’d be wrong. Haha

Would you pay him 400K to play at Rutgers this year?? I wouldn’t

1) I wish Paul was still here.

2) If we were to get a transfer at this point who was exactly the same as Paul on paper - we would be very happy.

3) would we be as happy if we had to shell out $400k for a Paul-clone-on-paper (particularly if that hampered the ability to get others.... I DO NOT believe so.

so, bottom line, I think Paul is a good player but not $400k good ;)

At this point it appears than Paul wanted a max NIL deal and was ready to sign with a number of top schools including WA, Gonzaga, ND, Xavier and others.

WA looks like the optimal financial and playing option for Paul. But the WA fans are going to expect immediate results from Paul at PG and expect scoring points from him as a 5th year player. I hope he delivers because if he doesn’t the WA press and fans will be impatient with him.

I would like to know as well.
Seems like others are bringing up the $400k , but so far no one has
provide any info about it
Good points. But whether it was 400k or less, it was a deal that Paul wanted over all other offers. I feel pretty sure that ND made an offer as well.

Paul signed the best economic and PT contract that was available to him. That’s his choice and I hope that finds success at WA. But we don’t have to root for him.

That's a problem with NILs, you never know if the players signed for the money over a program that might have been a better fit.
But can't say Washington isn't a better fit for Paul's talent than Notre Dame's style of play and roster needs.

I'm still curious if Cam would've stayed, or at least been more open to a higher NIL offer, if Mulcahy had gone into the portal first.
