When Myles Hartsfield leaves New Jersey for Mississippi, the IQ in both places will go up. Good riddance.

In other news Julie Herrman is said to be fighting for her job![roll]

I always try to say that top NJ talent should stay home and play for RU but in this case......

Far away from NJ will be good for him

The Governor of Mississippi hisself was going to welcome Myles to Mississippi, but the Governor's Mansion has a flat tire.

Thirded. I live in Jackson and it's excellent down here. Try getting out of NJ every now and again.

Doesn't Mississippi have the lowest average income of any state, the highest percentage living in poverty, and the least educated populace ?
Not to mention that damn flag.

I believe #1 and #2 are true; for education I think it goes back and forth with Hawaii depending on the year. The flag is a constant source of debate, though it seems like they're moving toward getting rid of it (likely a ballot measure for 2016).

I've been in the South three years now (Arkansas and Mississippi) after living in NJ most of my life. As you said, poverty and education are issues (which often go hand in hand) but my experience is that the people down here are kind to one another and work hard. What little they have, they don't mind sharing with one another. Community and family are very big (as is whatever the local SEC team is). That counts for something, to me anyway. I think too often people are too quick with the stereotype du jour about the South at large or Mississippi specifically, but haven't spent any time here. There's a lot of good, kind people, and it's not some backwater, KKK ridden hellscape. Case in point, I'd move back to Arkansas in a second before returning to the northeast.
