With the mandatory disclaimer necessary for certain members of this board and acknowledging our out of conference strength of schedule is weak, a closer look at these statistics clearly shows Coach Pikiell's imprint of defense, hustle and rebounding with our height and length is making an impact among the nation's leaders. Our offense , free throw shooting and cutting down on turnovers need work . However, to see Rutgers at the top end of these categories is truly Night and Day!!!

Scoring Defense:: 19th in the country at 60.9, and other than Virginia who is number 1at 46.7 per game, number 2 starts at 57.2!

Field goal defense: 18th at 37.2% and UCF is number 1 at 32.8%!

Rebounding Margin: 3rd at 13.4 per game !
Rebounding Offensive: 6th at 15.67 per game!
Rebounding Defense: 25th at 28.92 per game!
Total Rebounds: 7th at 535 with UNC at 6th at 536!
Total Rebounds per game: 8th at 44.58 with Utah number 1 at 46 per game!

Blocks per game : 29th at 5.5 per game !
Total blocks : 20th with 66 total with Oregon number 1 with 104 !

Scoring Margin : 44th by 13.4 per game !

You forgot one stat:
Strength of Schedule: 350/351.

Must admit though that those stats are impressive.

I think the current stats are really good, and so be it against lesser programs, but the real deal is the coaching staff. I think we shock a few BIG's.
This is a top 20 team in two -three years and I predict Coach Pike a BIG coach of the year within that time frame. Take it to the bank...

UCONN and Michigan State lost to Northeastern, Temple to New Hampshire. Pitt to Duquesne. We have beaten every team we should have. Heck Seton Hall fans I saw are angry they lost to Stanford. Nebraska to Gardner Webb.

We also go a little unlucky in terms of the schedule. Teams like FDU and Stony Brook-both tournament teams last year-are having terrible seasons.

The disclaimer isn't enough when you consider just how bad our schedule is. So I don't really care about the stats all that much. What I like about this team is nothing more complicated than the eye test. It just looks different.

Those stats will get a lot worse very, very quickly. But it still will look different. You just feel it.

Massey has our SOS as 279th. Weak, of course, but not 350/351. Where does that come from?

Also has our ranking all the way up to 78th which has got be higher than it's been in a looong time. For comparison, Rice's first team that we were all so pleasantly surprised by finished the year at #102.

EDIT: sorry, that was Rice's last year. His first year we finished at #81
