Great game to watch. Congrats to ND.

Couple of quick comments about the end of the game

Victor Schaefer of MSU got out coached. He had a foul to give with less than 5 secs to go and he doesn’t use it. In addition I think he left his star Tiera MnCowan play the entire 2nd half and she was exhausted. He needed to give her a break. Her missed point blank layup cost Miss St the game.

The end game was poorly handled by the officials. The winning basket goes through the net and the buzzer sounds. ND goes crazy and Miss St disconsolately shakes hands and leaves the court. The officials after a lengthy delay decide to put 0.00.1 on the clock and put the teams back on the court. Nothing but a tip would have counted with that much time left. And a tip for a 3 pointer is impossible. They had to get several players out of the locker room to finish the game. Common sense could have prevailed.

The refs are kind of in a tough position these days - if they hadn't added the 0.1, someone would have noticed and gone after them for it. (And, for what it's worth, you can have a 3-point tip play if the defensive team fouls the tipper, although of course in the real world McGraw would not have her team defend the inbounds.)

Actually, if I remember right, McGowan missed TWO chippies for each of the last two State possessions. However, somehow, I had missed knowing what a dominant player she is becoming. (I wonder if she'll declare for the draft?)

With no particular rooting interest, it was great fun to watch these three great final four games.

And Obunbowale's two buzzer-beater final four wins deserves to become a thing of legend.

Yeah the girl from Miss St did not have a good final few minutes. Along with missing a couple short ones (still not sure how she missed that final layup!) she also let the ND center score rather easily 1 or 2 times on the other end.
I didnt see most of the game but sounds like beforehand she played really well.

She was actually awesome the entire tournament with a 25 point 25 rebound game in the semis. She broke the previous rebound record for the tournament by more than 20 pulling in over 100 in the 6 games. As I said earlier, she was just exhausted down the stretch and her coach didn’t recognize this and give her a few minutes in the bench to catch her breath.

If I remember correctly they said she played every minute of previous tournament games
