we need to get back to the Garden and make one game a year an event.

And this could be done without playing a league game

Jimmy V classic

Preseason NIT

Coaches vs cancer tournament

ECAC holiday festival (get us a good
Opponent)

And maybe later ...a neutral site game against a Syracuse, UNC, Duke, when we can bring 10,000 fans (especially if we hype it and schedule )

Pat needs to soon get us playing in the garden annually and build off the momentum of the big ten tournament where we really showed well...especially with 7k in the house for Purdue, essentially with no notice

i thoroughly enjoyed the big ten tourney and when we played Wisco there.

Easy trip for me and a cool vibe.

Big Ten was cool because there was a buzz. Last 15 years prior to that the garden has been a ghost town for RU games with games against UNC,io a, Fordham, and the Johnnies.

Of course this is all about getting a buzz about Rutgers basketball and keeping it theee

If somehow this program danced this year (which I totally don’t expect) ...with the entire team except doorson returning and two big time pieces coming in...you won’t bave to worry about buzz for s long time

Well, that's the plan. We have a win I'm looking forward to attending in, I believe... Newark, NJ?
Is RU playing FDU there? lol Too early to start exchanging barbs, but I think you might not like what you see in Newark this season.

No.

Other than when the B1G tournament is there, the other things you mentioned (Jimmy V classic, Preseason NIT, Coaches vs cancer tournament, ECAC holiday festival) or a home game for St. John's, Manhattan or Fordham where we are the opponent I don't see the need.

Especially for a neutral site game. Not a fan. Unless Jim Dolan plans to pay us like the Giants/Jets did for the first college game at the new stadium. Then I could get on board.

I think we need to understand there is 2 MSGs. One that has a buzz during a big time sporting event and one that is a big arena that can hold a sporting event.
Exactly.

Just like the RAC having a buzz when we’re good.

Of course, You have to become good to make a Rutgers basketball game at the garden an event. Duh.

Anyone who was a fan from the mid 70s through the early 80s knows that Rutgers playing at the Garden was an event.

What you saw at the garden for the big ten tournament and even the nit In 2003 is what it was regularly like for Rutgers in the garden

Hell...we played an exhibition game in November of 1978 against the Chinese National team...and drew 5 digits!

It can happen again and we need to do this to build our brand. Of course you need to be calculated, but it needs to be done

Not at the expense of giving up a home game.

Tournaments or we are the visitors is fine.

That is until we get hockey... ;)
