According to the front page article he's been at North Texas the past five years as tight ends coach/asst. head coach. Before that he was at Iowa St. for seven years, and he was also the Kansas OC from 2002-2006 (though those years don't add up - couldn't have been at Iowa St. and North Texas the last 12 years if he was the Kansas OC until 2006...). Was also an assistant at Kansas St. and had head coaching gigs at Fordham and Drake. Lots of experience. Thoughts?

Ok take a desert - the best spot in a desert is an oasis. I don't know what you call the worst place in a desert but that's what North Texas is in relation to D1 football. Not that it means anything in particular about this coach. Sometimes innocent people ended-up at Devil's Island

Was he there with Dan McCarney who was just fired from a Texas school and with whom Ash worked with at Iowa State? There was some speculation he might be coming here but evidently not.

This year, yes. 2 years ago, though, they were pretty good - went 9-4 and won a bowl.
