this great news, the sooner the better. Congrats to Hobbs and Sarah and the RU community on a job well done raising the money
I do get a chuckle hearing Barchi talk about it contrasting his opinions from 18 months ago when he continually skirted around the issue

Its great news for 2018-2019 when the facility will be open for use and can be utilized as a recruiting asset.The potential problem,however,is that at least two recruiting cycles will pass prior to construction completion.The challenge moving forward is to attract top tier recruits knowing that they might be juniors before the new facility is operational.Long suffering fans have demonstrated patience but nobody knows the reaction of recruits who are more likely concerned with what is happening now because they have other school options to choose from.Hobbs should be commended for getting the process moving forward .Lets get the shovels in the ground.
This is phenomenal news! Now Pickiell and Stringer can sell their vision with a concrete plan of having the new kids actually practice in the brand spanking new facility!

Its not that big a deal since there is only more spot on the 2017 recruiting class and it will hopefully go to Gueye. So its only the 2018 class we have to worry about.
Obviously she was a hof coach. all I'm saying is women's basketball at Rutgers has bled money year after year after year. Everybody knows it.

If Hobbs pulls this off the folks complaining about cancelling the under age drinking party or not letting them bring their own bag of peanuts into the stadium are going to need a little shaddup. We've being trying to pull off something like this for a long, long time. He is getting it done. Both the fundraising and building.
I understand your viewpoint but Rutgers has a history of players transferring every season.
Amazing! solid coach, great staff, new facilities being built... the perfect storm for RU Bball is coming together.
So they set up shop in house and provide those services for free to RU athletes? Or are we paying them for the in house work so that they can send the money back to us. ?

I am THRILLED RU got a deal I just don't quite get how a Medical group has all this cash to invest. When you're really sick, due you really look at the ads when choosing where to go?

I might be wrong, but I believe the benefit is from a research standpoint. They'll now have unlimited access to high-caliber athletes to which they can use from a sports medicine standpoint. It should help advance their sports medicine practice and also help them attract top doctors and researchers.
My opinion is noone will transfer. This season is going to be so so much better than people think.

In weird coincidence (and may have overlooked) but earlier this evening I saw RWJBarnabas Health on the side of my Retrofitness bulding.
R there any football specific aspects to the facility?the "preview" page doesn't say so.

That's the schools problem and the problem of fans that don't care. Not Stringers. I used to think like these people, but it's wrong. A real athletic dept. has a very well rounded roster of successful programs. Pat Hobbs made me see the light. The problem isn't that we pay Stringer a lot of money and she is successful. The problem is our other programs aren't.
Pat Hobbs and Co. will change that. You may not love her style but she is a HoF coach and will be reaching a major milestone. It could only happen at Rutgers.
Hopefully we have a bunch of other coaches that are as successful as she has been.
How can this not help with recruiting? While it may be a couple years until completion, at least it's now real instead of a conceptual drawing awaiting funding.

While I am not a big fan of her recent performance and see nothing to suggest she will go out on a high note, seems like Toby has an agenda that really doesn't fit here. This is good news for all interested in the sports the facility will support.

No, football will become the sole tenant at the Hale Center when soccer and lacrosse get their facility.
This is not a Rutgers problem. With the exception of Connecticut, Tennessee and possibly Baylor, Notre Dame and 2-3 more schools; WBB loses money everywhere.
Some schools, and I'm talking P5 schools who finish top 3 in their conference, sell WBB tix for $10 and that includes a hot dog and a small drink.
I can't see how you can justify paying a coach in a non revenue sport way in excess of what the program brings in. No way we should be paying a woman's basketball coach more than $250,000. It is a terrible investment.
