Needs to learn when to celebrate. He and Thiam were celebrating his dunk while the other 3 RU players were sprinting to the other end to defend.
While they were celebrating, it looked like Pikiell wanted to rip their heads off. I bet they're doing some serious laps today.
With that said, you can't help but enjoy NJ play. He just needs to improve his FT%.

Nigel can play the 1, but through 4 games he is not a PG. I realize the A/TO numbers are gaudy.
I thought the announcers were all over that celebration. They said this there has been so much losing in the program that it may take some time to understand how to win. I'm sure Pikiel was all over them after the game. Especially Thiam for giving NJ a bear hug during a live ball. The kid is a freshman who got overly excited and made a mistake. That won't happen again.
Corey has yet to really get on track with his outside shooting. Not sure if he spent so much time on defense and learning more point responsibilities in training camp. Hopefully he gets on track soon with a tougher part of the schedule quickly coming.
We have two quick guards who can break a press and break down their guy in man coverage. Once the first entry pass is made in the half court, the entire team is in sync with crisp passes, screens and movement, crashing the boards, diving for loose balls and hustling back on D. Whether either guy is a pure PG is less important to me when the entire team is involved in creating a dynamic offense.
I agree with most of ur statement, however I still see some pass that float and are so close to getting picked off. Can't take any play for granted, have to always snap crisp correct passes.
Right now Thiam is a big contributor to the weak passing issue. I won't call it "lazy" because nothing about his play would make you think he is lazy, but he needs to work on putting some mustard on those passes on the perimeter.
A hunch here....at most a mention was made. We have lots still to do and work on. Hustling, getting a nice steal, getting the crowd involved, and a teammate enjoying it, and up 15+. He is coaching with emotion, wants players to play with it, and the crowd to feed off it.
Pikiell was waving his arms getting the crowd up. i could be wrong, but this is a NON ISSUE. Early shots in the shot clock up 15 with 3 minutes left (Thiam vs. Drexel) are a much bigger deal to him I'd think.
Based on a shot he took in 1 of the 1st 2 games I think he has no confidence in taking a perimeter shot in a catch and shoot situation. He feels more comfortable taking a shot off the dribble.

NO! Corey hasn't had the best start so far, but I think he is the "look" of a PG. Moreso than last year. He is looking to get others involved. He had a TO throwing a pass to Freeman. He thought Freeman was cutting, but the bottom line he was looking to get him involved. To me Nigel is a guy who is a scorer who remembers in the possession he is a point guard. Come B1G time both are going to have to create for themselves more, especially when the shot clock is below 10.

I completely agree with you. The tone of my post may have been off a bit. I think the guys are excited and made a mistake that probably won't happen again.
I tend to agree here. Corey seems to be very good at getting the ball to the big men in both the high and low post and in a position for them to score. Which is a lost art in basketball today.
IMO the only thing holding back his offensive game is his hesitancy to pull up and take a three, and quite honestly, it feels like it's part of the game plan to forego that look. Trust me, when we're struggling for buckets, which will happen plenty of times later in the year, Corey and Nigel can shoulder a load if need be.
Now had they killed off the drummer that would have been impressive

Met he and his family after the game. They travel back and forth from northern Virginia for weekend home games Wonderful folks. . I told his mom that Nigel is the guy who has always played on the other team and we hated THAT guy.. Now we have THAT guy and we love him.
