Early December bracketology update with the NET release earlier this week and a good slate of games last night, including the first conference matchups in the Big Ten.

The way I see it, if Rutgers doesn't lose the game to Kennesaw State, they're looking at a seed somewhere in the 6-8 range given the close losses to Alabama and Texas A&M, especially with how strong the SEC has looked so far (9-1 against the ACC yesterday). That loss knocked them down all the way to a play-in game at Dayton for now. Rutgers needs to go at least 4-1 in December to maintain their position in the field, but they must avoid losing to Seton Hall, Princeton, and Columbia in those games. Big opportunity for a Quad 1 win at Ohio State this weekend!

i wouldnt have rutgers in the last 12 out at this point.
How many teams outside the tourney would essentially play one possession games with Alabama and Texas A&M. There's a little bit of projection built into any bracketology this early (and I know this is all meaningless right now, just done for fun and conversation). They're closer than most Rutgers fans are feeling they are, I know we've lost 3 games, but good times are ahead.

selections are based on resume, Rutgers does not have anything on the resume currently for inclusion. Rutgers also came within one possession of losing to an awful Notre Dame team. Beat Ohio State on the road and a case can be made.

If you take the last two games as "the team" with the exclusion of everything else then they are good enough to make the tourney, but there are ALOT of teams who could, uh, lose but be kind of close on their good nights.

I'm very well aware on how selections are made in March, but an early season bracketology (or even preseason one for that matter) doesn't have enough games played to judge teams solely on a resume built. Future projections are always considered with those early ones.

I don’t want to be the guy who appears to be killing this team, but you mentioned future projections. If we are projecting, we have to factor in flaws this team has shown. Defensive lapses and bad defense at times, lack of rebounding, lack of 3 point shooting (Hayes and Martini non-factors from 3 in Vegas), and questions if the supporting cast can provide the help Dylan and Ace need. Did they show positives against Bama and A&M? Absolutely, they went toe-to-toe with a Final Four team and Dylan was the best player on the floor, JWill emerged with strong play in Vegas, they also outrebounded a good rebounding team in A&M, Ace crashed the boards, definitely saw positives in those games. The flaws they have need to continue to improve such as the improved rebounding we saw against A&M. Even if you project out ahead with this team, the current flaws need to improve in order for them to stack wins and build an NCAA tourney resume. Let’s start the stacking with OSU this week.
