No. 18 Rutgers Men’s Lacrosse Falls To No. 14 Michigan Sunday

Their offense is flowing. They do a great job picking on the off ball side creating cutters.

Story all season with a young team. Inability to string together back to back good games. If there was ever a game they really could have used veteran leadership on attack, it’s this game.

This loss put us in a really tough spot. Pretty much the only path to the tourney at this point is winning the BTT without benefit of a first round bye. A win over PSU would at least give us a first round home game.

I’m OK with close losses and a winning percentage.333 or better in conference (no matter what the sport). Good to see they are competitive, especially after the bad performances earlier in the year. Hoping for a win vs PSU, but happy the team plays hard and isn’t getting blown out.

24 TOs and 0-5 on emo is the story of the game (on top of the continued poor 6-on-6 offense that’s been a problem all year).
And 6 - 37 shooting, if Inside Lacrosse stats are right. That is painful. Either we don’t have the Jimmies and Joes on offense or we have a crap offensive system

Yeah, only 13 SOGs on those 37 shots. Not many good looks, which mostly explains the numerous misses. Lots of shots from distance, but not hands free - just a lot of contested shots that they released out of desperation.

But there were also a good number of just errant shots.

Still at least two games left. Lot of opportunity next week but the hill is steep. But now they need that PSU game not just as a big win on the resume but to at least get the 4th spot and host a playoff.

Agreed on the above but have to add our inability to secure 50/50 ground balls which there were multiple at key points in the second half when we needed just a little bit of juice but Michigan out gritted us.

Was sloppy. No excuses, but it is telling that the 3 Michigan players to close out the game with goals were two seniors and a junior. Meanwhile, we're relying to a sophomore and a couple of redshirt freshmen to close out a tight game.

Interesting side note is that Matt Palumb reffed the Michigan game. I don't know if he is a regular on BIG schedules but he is the best, his interactions with PLL players and coaches are a very entertaining add to PLL viewing. It makes sense as at one point I said to my wife during the game "we are getting calls we don't usually get, who is reffing this?" and she then recognized him from pretty high up in the stands so needless to say we must watch too much PLL.

Mitchell Pehlke was also in the concession area engaging with fans for content so of course my son grabbed a picture.

Not the result we wanted but we did have a little bit of celebrity in the house, it is good to be playing games that matter!
