In terms of responsibility, what % of culpability would you put on the coaches vs. the wrestlers for getting clobbered? In many of the matches we got clobbered in there was a pretty clear disparity in talent levels. You saw his frustration right there. Stephan has to get a TD with over 1:30 left to get one. Does not matter if you lose 3-2 or 5-2. Can’t get clobbered ina bunch of bouts. Being down to 2 Nd or 3rd stringers at 174 or 184 hurts but no excuses. That effort and lineup against Princeton gives us no chance tomorrow. Might as well hand them the trophy.
I understand where you're coming from and largely agree. At a certain point wrestlers have to perform. I also understand we have a lot of the same issues every year once the competition level goes up a notch. Classic chicken or the egg question.Belushio
Coaches can coach, train and guide but in the end the kids have to perform.you can coach Glasgow to death but if he does not shoot with 1:30 to go losing by 1, you could be Dan Gable coaching and it would not matter. Not knocking the kids at 174 and 184 but the talent differential between them and their opponents is huge. Nebraska does not have all 8 of those ranked kids for nothing. They are very good. That team out there today would not beat any team on the rest of the schedule including Sunday. Fact
“Spirited practice like we use to”. You can see the frustration but curious about this last quote. Has he changed his approach and now wants to get back to what they use to do? I hope he gets after the guys today and they come out ready to go tomorrow. JVB and Glasgow are huge momentum matches. If they start it at 157 (end with Kolo v Ash) JVB needs to come out and get the crowd into it.
