Gotta be honest, my immediate reaction of the first goal against NE was “wow, our goalie got a late jump on that.”
Absolutely, about us wanting the same thing for RU athletics. Glad your daughter & I are on the same page. Hello to her.I know we are fans and we know they are young student athletes doing their best and as fans we praise them when it is due and we sometimes criticize them but we all want the same thing and that is for Rutgers to win not only in women's soccer but in all sports; as an aside my daughter who I goes to all the games with me and DID play soccer also agrees 100% with you
Yes I myself was a student athlete and while you may be more of an expert because of your years over me, I believe these athletes already have a lot of pressure and don’t need to read these forums with people criticizing them so harshly when it’s not like they are looking to lose. Meg is one of the few who gives her all 100 % of the time and perhaps just had a bad game. I don’t think it’s necessary to bring in her history of other bad games. Mike doesn’t sub his players but for maybe 2, 3 tops. I think the focus should be there and not on the goalie who can only do so much when the ball has to get thru so many others before it gets to the goalie. Others teams use their bench and sub their players giving rest to their starters, who can’t be expected to play 90 min each and every game. It’s towards the end of the season and girls are injured, girls have lost interest and adjustments just aren’t madeYes I played soccer. And I've gone to almost every home game for the last 12 years. And as an 80 year old guy who played 3 sports in college & a dozen years of heavy semi pro baseball & coached & managed teams in two sports I think I know something about athletics & what I'm looking at.
How about you? Do you go to the women's soccer games?
And I happen to know Meg. And she is a really nice young lady. So I don't feel real good about the criticism. Maybe I shouldn't have posted it, but I did.
We are not criticizing the girls harshly but being honest; You bring up a great point in that the coaches need to be criticized more in my opinion because one of the issues with this teams are the injuries which have hampered key players which I believe has hurt our performance more than anything but the depth issue is clearly on the coaches as basically he has only played 1 freshman all year and she has basically been no help; In the transfer portal the only one who has played minutes has been Adrian Kuryla the others almost nothing so as far as I am concerned this is on the coaches and their poor recruiting last year, now of course most of the team was back but you have to be able to bring in at least 3 new players a year who can contribute and as you say give the starters some rest so they don't wear out and get injured by the end of the year and they can be fresh for the postseasonYes I myself was a student athlete and while you may be more of an expert because of your years over me, I believe these athletes already have a lot of pressure and don’t need to read these forums with people criticizing them so harshly when it’s not like they are looking to lose. Everyone blames the D line however midfield does not possess the ball enough and that puts pressure on the D.Yes I myself was a student athlete and while you may be more of an expert because of your years over me, I believe these athletes already have a lot of pressure and don’t need to read these forums with people criticizing them so harshly when it’s not like they are looking to lose.
