As you can see I met Corey (in Vegas) as I reported, back in Nov. Also met EJ / Carlin.

Corey is PURE GOLD- a natural. He will he first team all BIG frosh- and we need to surround him with similar talent.

With the new commit we now have 1 ship left. That brings me to : the Goode, the Bad / Ugly (just watch Goode when he plays....he's all three).

Let's cut the anchor / ask Goode to transfer to a place where he can get playing time and maybe regain whatever he had so he can be productive. Goode looks BAD all the time: he looks lost on "D" / invisible on "O". Goode passes the ball so as not to have to take a shot...in short UGLY: Horrrrrrrrilbe!

He may be a great kid (probably is) but he doesn't have the size, speed, agility, confidence, or any skill set that I can see that warrants continuing with us. We'd be better off taking a 1 year grad student who can SCORE, or REBOUND, or hopefully both than staying with Goode.

I've nothing against him...other than he contributes nothing and even with only 8 suited up, shows no signs of improvement.

Next.

I'm guessing he does transfer and we'll have two more spots to fill. Oham and a PF/C would be great.

I never overly criticize guys trying.

He needs to stop moving around the court in slow motion. Act like you want the ball.

He needs to take shots.

He needs to stop standing around and pointing. Just watch, I have never seen a guy try to be a coach on the floor pointing out where guys should move.

He lacks confidence and plays scared on offense. The other players don't have confidence in him because he is not trying to score........you can see it on the court.

Biggest hurdle for RU is recruiting impact players - Sanders types - coming off a huge losing streak.

I still think there is an overall distrust of Rutgers among various high school, prep and aau coaches in the area.

There are too many winning programs around that will scoop up the "impact" recruits.

And to think, all we need to go is get 3 highly rated local impact players per year and we would be just as good as Duke or Kentucky.

What people think on here will not effect any decisions made. Johnson can also run the point, and Corey may play off of him.

It is very difficult to have any confidence or enthusiasm for the incoming players when you look at the track record of Eddie's recruits or those that never made it. Goode has to assert himself on the offensive end immediately. Throw us a bone and make us think there is some potential. I know he is a freshman, but you look at what he has done and you have to question whether the coaching staff really took the time to assess whether he can play at this level.

Goode could have played 2nd semester of last year and maybe would be further along at this point. I don't see him long for here

He has shown no difference than what a walk on could bring to the table, again he's just a freshman, but clearly there was a reason we were only high major to offer. there are players like him probably better than him all over NJ high school that we never consider

Based on what I see has to be a ton. What is shocking is how bad his defense is, but he isn't alone.

How long has been in the program? Did he practice with the team last year?

I think he came in second semester, someone can verify the details for me as quite frankly I wasn't pay attention... all the reports including RUChoppinOhio were touting him as the best shooter on the team. I don't think he practiced with the team though

He probably still is a good shooter....the safety lock just needs to come off. based on when he came off the bench in Game 1 he had to show something in the preseason. He needs to be 5 feet further away on the court and be ready to shoot.

Frankly, Dadika should be playing before him. He looks a hell of a lot better out there. Goode is almost as invisible as Sheridan.

I feel bad for him but it is his own fault. As bad as this team is right now how could you not take your chance to make an impact?

I remember a set play run for him early in the season, he moved quickly and confidentially to his spot and nailed a 3 pointer. I've been waiting to see that confident shooter again...not the guy moving slowly around the court spending time pointing for other players to move to certain spots. Maybe he needs those set plays more often for his confidence. If so, it's Jordan fault for not doing it more.

It is clearly a lack of confidence, he seems to have forgotten the number 1 rule for shooters....shooters need to shot it.

It's true. I just don't know. I hope the best for him. Hopefully he finds his confidence here or goes someplace else and has a great impact.

He definitely practice last year. Jordan specifically mentioned that Myles Mack was lobbying for him to play because he could help spend the floor as a shooter....but, it was only for half the season and the decision was made to redshirt him. Early reports from BK also touted his shooting ability.

I'm sure he's a good kid and busts his ass in practice but that kid is not someone you can play with in the Big Ten.

Period

Having said that you can't run him off if he wants to stay.

Ragging on this kid has become a favorite pastime on this board. Please stop it. He's only a frosh and he's hardly responsible for the abysmal record of the MBB team. He's presence and participation are so insignificant to the disaster that is generously called college basketball at Rutgers. Out of about a million issues that are affecting the lowly state of the program, Goode shouldn't even warrant a mention.

Actually you're wrong there-----you have 12 guys on scholarship which makes him 8.5 % of the problem.

I didn't trash the kid-----but he doesn't belong here.

Goode is a guy who needs our playmakers to penetrate and then kick out to him. He is not getting those opportunities, our guys tend drive the lane with one thing in mind.
He's never going to be a world beater as a defender, athlete etc. but obviously would need to get in the weight room and get serious if he wants to truly compete at this level.

I tend to think he won't be here after this season.

The staff needs to get him to shoot then. It isn't just telling Goode to shoot more. We have played countless garbage time minutes...why not have Sanders penetrate with the sole intention of a weak side kick out to Goode.

What I am seeing right now in the half court offense is Sanders and Daniels dominating the basketball, dribbling way too much! As a result when the other 3 touch the ball they are more apt to try and do something....especially Mike Williams.

I am really liking what Sanders is doing defensively (especailly given his minutes), but I have not been pleased the past few games with what he is doing in his role as a point guard. I think there are 2 fixes......1) just tell him to get others involved AND 2) more Goode, Grier, and Williams at the 2. Daniels and Sanders do not coexist offensively.

he should go back to wearing the black tights then. like a thunder shirt for my dog. maybe it gives him confidence. not the same player since taking them off... (and I am not kidding),

Agree....I think he needs set plays called for him and Jordan needs to do it. So, he has failed him. He is probably more comfortable with that, as opposed to improvising on the court and using constant movement to get open for looks.

We are playing Daniels there now. He cannot possibly be worse at the point than that.

My response was to the OP who said we need to recruit a PG to spell Corey..we gave Nigel already

We need a lot. Legit post scoring threats beyond Freeman.. A defensive stopper (Yankuba Sima, Angel Delagado type), a big ten quality wing who can shoot the 3 from day 1.

Like a poster mentioned, we talk about Goode and if anyone is to talk about anyone, it should be Jordan. Jordan has recruited Goode, and has not put him in a prime position to succeed. I am just saying this to defend a 19 y o and put blame on someone more mature.

I agree: he acts as if he's afraid to be on the court. Unacceptable.

That's why I said "we need a lot" lol

Goode needs to go for everyones benefit. There's nothing he does that helps our team besides giving our players a breather. Even if he was scoring some points he's not fast enough to guard anyone and his ball handling ability is poor.
