Not suprising

My concern is that I have seen this woeful looking offense with previous head coaches which tells me that the lack of talent drives what happens on the court.Opponents know that Rutgers has so few shooting/scoring options so they set up their defense to overplay against Sanders and Baker .Its smart coaching strategy on their part .How many more consecutive losing seasons must fans endure before Rutgers actually puts on the court scoring threats at every starting position?

Absolutely. Look at who the program had in for solid minutes during the game. This is no surprise. Harper Jr has to see his opportunity, and seize it. Thiam is not guaranteed to get 25 minutes next year unfortunately. Who is the shooter that is going to help this team get some place?

My faith lies in ability of Kiss, Baker, and Harper Jr. I am not expecting Sanders to boost his shooting. It would have shown already. Well see. Just gotta sit tight.

Thiam improved a lot from last year (mainly in defense, rebounding, more inside the arc shots, and fewer turnovers), and we can hope he improves more into next year.

A few things I'm hoping to see (if he adds even a handful of these, it will be a solid step forward)
- Quicker release
- Shots off of screens, rather than needing to shoot off a pass
- More pump fakes from the outside
- Adding 10+ pounds to his frame
- Some more post play, backing down defenders who will undoubtedly be giving up 3-4 inches
- A pull up jumper from 8-10 feet

He's going to have to fight harder for his minutes, which is a very good thing. Hopefully it will move him out of his comfort zone and force him to be more competitive/aggressive on offense - looking to prove that he deserves to be out there, rather than being the default wing.

Looking at the other competition for minutes at the three, assuming Sanders stays.
- Mathis will get time on the floor with both Sanders/Baker. In the 7 Team BBC games that have stats online, he shot .407 on about 4 attempts per game. That could add some outside shooting from the wing.
- Kiss will definitely get time, but is a streaky shooter - don't know how much we can rely on him for points beyond the arc. In his best 8 shooting games at Quinnipiac, he shot 21/37 from range (.568)... and in his worst 8 games, he shot 0/35 (.000). He went 0/10 for two games, then 8/15 for the next three... then 3/14 for the next three. Hopefully the redshirt year has helped him improve consistency.
- Harper is making 1.5 threes per game through 10 games this year with Don Bosco, and has been averaging 18.5 ppg. He's had 5 games with multiple threes, and 4 games with none (can't find any data on his %)

Thiam's problem is that his shot is too flat. At his height, he should be able to shoot over most guards in the B1G. very surprised this was missed by coaches and scouts. or, maybe they thought it can be corrected.

Great stuff chopping. Thanks for the info. I want Thism to succeed as much as the next fan. With competition at his spot, time is of the essence. Whoever the shooter is will play.

I would be more convinced of Mathis numbers came from hs ball. Well see who has the chance to help out next year.
