Rivals have us at 77 with Coach Ash on the job for 4 weeks
But Boston College is ranked at 82 with coach Addazio on the job for 4 years?
What is happening up north?
And there are some from this board that cried for Addazio to come to RU and save us!
With 2 assistants leaving 2 days after NSD, Addazio, I suspect he will be gone with another season like last year.
OH NO! will we lose Ash to BC :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: (sarcasm)
He would have been a bad hire!
Thank you AD Hobbs for you NOT listening to our crack pot Alums.[banana]

I dont think anyone was saying that Addazio should come here. I certainly dont remember seeing it. Seriously - if thats your arguement in favor of Ash - that he is better than someone that a couple of people on a message board might have thrown out among hundreds of posts on the topic - well its not a strong one.

PLENTY of posters wanted Addazio here, mainly in the past but definitely a few brought his name of this year, not sure where you've been.

OMG, there were plenty who wanted him here, I can't believe you said that?

Look above this post and your believe that Addazio name did not come up is not true.
but I am not make an argument in favor of Ash/Addazio so much as I am asking WTF is going on at BC?

Sorry for the "crappy" title. But it was not too sterling

What has BC football accomplished since it joined the ACC? Recruiting has suffered big time. They are in worse shape than Miami. The only BE team that excelled was VT and even they have gone down a few notches the last 5 years. Cuse and Pitt may have similar fates and Cuse is well on the way.

They both have had better classes recently and made good coaching hires, Pitt especially.

Nice way to crap all over our recruits.
And successful organizations don't measure themselves against bigger losers than themselves. This board is an antidote for antidepressants sometimes.
I agree, i also think it would be beneficial for NE schools to show some collective success. It would help get more eyes on all the programs especially RU.

Flood was a very, very costly hire. Whatever it was he did he clearly did a massive amount of damage to the program and its reputation. Our recruiting while in the rickety Big East was still respectable and should never have gone straight downhill upon entering a much better conference. What did that poseur do and say for God's sake???

Really, the biggest knock against our class was that it's small. 16 guys - there were only two programs in Rivals Top 100 team rankings that had fewer (Kansas and Kansas State).

It gives us some room next year to have a larger class by counting early enrollees against 2016, when Ash and Co. will have a year's worth of relationship building under their belts.

I'm not counting the first recruiting class or first season's W/L record against Ash - he's going to need a bit of time to turn the battleship of culture and perception left by the outgoing staff. If he brings in 25 solid guys + another 5-9 early enrollees for next year, it won't really matter so much that this year's class was a bit light.

uhhhhh....this
NO..I think you may have the wrong vowel filled name..it was Narduzzi that many posters wanted RU to pony the money up for...and he did have legit interest in comming here.
.

The key for Addazzio this year will be his grad transfers. 2014 was a decent season b/c Murphy was better than expected at QB and the OL was stabilized. If transfer QB transfer is successful, OL improves and Hillman is healthy BC will bounce back - maybe 6/7 wins. But Addazzio hasn't delivered much recruiting success and BC has given away at least 6 games in 3 years. That's bad. The struggles at BC, in hoops and football, have nothing to do with joining the ACC. The previous AD was a disaster. He was an egomaniac who got greedy after joining ACC. He wanted huge donations for parking and seat location, which killed the atmosphere for both sports. But most importantly, he fired (or pushed out) O'Brien and Skinner, who were both consistently successful. There were reasons to make the changes, but the problem is that struck out with both replacements.

I don't think it's the coach so much as BCU destroyed their FB program by joining the ACC. Oh and out right lies by the administration during negotiations might have a bit of a Karma effect.

Yeah. Still, you should edit the title of your "crappy" post.

Should we give them all participation medals and and get pre-season spring game championship rings made up for them too?
So, these kids work their asses off to earn a P5 scholarship and sign to become members of your football team and you're ok calling them names, having their parents see you call them names, and having future recruits believe the RU fanbase is a filled with ungrateful internet know-it-alls? OK, got it. Thanks for the clarification.

What name did i call them? As individuals they earned it, the coaches failed to collectively bring in enough of them, and in all the areas needed. The collection doesn't measure up to other programs. So i stand by what i said.

As the thread creator, you will see a wrench symbol with a dropdown menu to the right of the thread title. One of the options on the dropdown menu is "Edit Title".

Thank you Scarlet
I hope everyone is happy with the PC happy title

Agree that having a small class affects the rankings. I find it odd that BC only had one or two more recruits more than RU without a coaching change.

The thing is, they are our recruiting class... to say the class is "crappy" is directed at them. If this same identical crop of kids also had Rashan Gary, Ahmir Mitchell, Jordan Fuller, Jarrett Guarantano, and Kelvin Harmon to bring it to 21 kids, people would be saying how great a class it was.... without any change to the other 16 guys. So, no, this isn't a crappy class - it's a small class, and it's lacking a few top prospects with star power, but I'm not going to dump on the rest of them.

I'm one of those who had wanted Addazio here. Not this coaching change, but the last one...in place of Flood. Now it's pretty clear he would've been a failure here at RU too. That said, I still think he would've been better than Flood (but more expensive).

This is why I don't care for many of the Ash-is-great-because of the Urban Meyer tree / OSU pedigree arguments. Addazio came from the same Urban Meyer tree and won two national championships with him at Florida. Addazio wasn't just OC, but was AHC. He then had some middling success at Temple when we looked at him. On paper at least, he was every bit as qualified as Ash. But obviously, I was wrong and he's not going to bring Fredo any success . Ash will prove or disprove his success by the product on the field.

Nice post RUSK you are a man to admit it. I always found Addazio a bit slick. like in a used car sales man. Much like Golden. I can not put my finger on Ash completely but I perceive him like a young Schiano. And only time will tell. But when you hear accolades from other not named Meyer I listen and I am impressed he is a go getter and is driven to succeed.
One final point most FB coaches are not the brightest tacks in the box ( or they would do something else for a living) Listening to Ask (yea I know a lot of FB talk) but that aside there is a brain behind his eyes. That alone encourages me.

Also there were 15 teams ranked ahead of us, due to # of signees, but with LOWER average star ratings. Essentially puts our class at 62 which is just about where Lemming put the class (59th).

Oh, no doubt about it; Addazio is a used car salesman. But we were days before NLI and I thought he was a better candidate than Flood or Cristobol (failing to meet expectations at FIU is BIG). Though about FB coaches not being bright - I don't know about that. Maybe not intellectually stellar, but they've got to be pretty smart. And heck, if you are successful enough to become HC, I can think of many worse ways to make a living.
