O.T-Craig Sager Dead at 65.

Saw his story on Real Sports a couple of times - battled cancer for a long time with experimental drugs and massively strong chemo stints. Seemed like a really nice person and was rooting for him. Shame to lose him - RIP to Craig and his crazy sportsjackets.

Ah man. That's tough.

Here's my small, but amusing, first-person anecdote.....

Once I was working courtside at a Nets game hours before a TNT televised game and the Nets Dancers were rehearsing on the court.....Sager walks by me and asks, "so how are the Nets Dancers looking this year?" And I jokingly reply "oh they're fine, but they're no "Luv-a-Bulls" (and I don't even know why I picked the Chicago dancers, but I did for some reason - maybe they were playing the Bulls that night). Without missing a beat, Sager replied, "oh I know, I married one."

Sure enough, I googled and his wife was a LuvaBull Dancer!

About 10 years ago my cousin was getting married in the Bahamas. The night before the wedding, a bunch of the guys went down to the casino after the rehersal dinner to play some blackjack.

We were just about to leave when this guy sits down at our table and starts to play. As soon as I heard his voice I knew it was Craig Sager. We sat there listening to him tell stories and played cards till 5 in the morning. My cousin half jokingly asked him to do the intros at the reception and he said sure thing. We left the casino and said thanks for the great night.

No one though he would show up for the reception, but low and behold he came to the ceremony did the intros and stayed for the whole recption. What a guy! He was so unassuming, friendly and laid back. At the end of the night he thanked my cousin for letting him be a part of the wedding.
RIP Craig Sager. A true gentleman.

This should be pinned for a month!

They did a tribute to him at a recent Nets game I was at, at the end of the video he thanked people and he was almost unrecognizable. It is unbelievable what cancer does to us, he seemed upbeat at all times. Really shows how hard he fought. The stories on here about experiences with him are fantastic. He will be missed.

Tough year for sports broadcasters. RIP Craig, you've earned it, for the win!

Had a short interaction after a Lakers game once. He was genuine, nice, and funny. And had no reason to be other than he is was.

RIP
