The righthander had a record of 28-13 vs the Yanks, despite being 3 games under .500 vs the rest of MLB for his career.Casey Stengel would refrain from pitching Whitey Ford against him for that reason.

I was at Yankee Stadium on May 12,1961-Yogi's 36th birthday-to see Lary win his own game,4-3,with a ninth inning homer. He went all the way despite giving up 11 hits and 6 walks.Yogi went 1 for 5,doubling in a run in the fifth.

One of the last games Lary ever pitched was a start in Cincinnati. He shut out the Reds for eight innings, the Mets winning 1-0 in the 11th despite not having gotten a hit off of Jim Maloney to that point.
