Not exactly the best example. That is a solid offer list. Most cfb players are 3 stars.

It's a solid list for sure......I would assume that a catholic school player from Ohio would be most likely to want to go to ND if they offered......just saying, he's the best in the world right now, and you have a lot of guys who got a lot more hype from high school through college that didn't develop into much.

Luke has been what Clowney (perhaps the most hyped college defensive player ever) was supposed to be.

Meaningless. Star ratings do a very good job showing a probability of success. The proof of how well they work is all over the place. They are not a predictor of how good or bad an individual player will be. Many individual players will outperform their star rating; many players will underperform compared to their star rating. That is not the point.

In the aggregate, higher rated recruits WILL outperform lower rated recruits. So when you evaluate a recruiting class, more stars means a better class, because it means a better probability of the players being able to excel at this level.

In a nut shell.

Huh? Ray Lewis is still the best LB alive even though he is retired. He could strap it up tomorrow and dominate.

I would argue this supports the stars argument. BC landed a once a decade type player and still couldn't get over the 7 win hump.
