Looked very suspect in the scrimmage

Wish we could see an example of an Pass in a real game. Howard would have been a good start

My guess is had the O done its job, in the 1st quarter, Gio and then Oden would have been in during the 3rd and he would have gotten some passes in there.

Odin definitely brings the run part of this offense to the QB position. I don't know yet if he will start this season but it now seems he is "in the mix." Curious to see him more and see what he can do against a better team in non garbage time.

Stop it guys. Ash isn't going to have the kid throwing passes up 49-13 with a couple minutes left in the game.

We've all seen teams do it with their 2nd and 3rd strings against Rutgers.

OK with it not happening for his first taste of the college game but if he gets in again, let's see him pass.

The execution of the read/option between Oden/Gio compared to Laviano is night and day.

Gio and Oden look much more confident on the play fakes. They know when to give it to the back or pull it and take it upfield themselves. The ground game is much more potent when you have a true running threat lining up in the gun. It will also open up the play action passing game.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see Oden/Rescigno toss one downfield to assess their arm strength/accuracy. We saw what they could do with their feet, but we still need to see them throw it.

Having 2nd and 3rd teamers throw the ball is one thing. Having them do so, with less than 3 to go in the game, up 49-14, is douchey and completely unnecessary. What are you going to learn about a guy at that point of the game? IMHO I'm glad we don't/didn't do so.

Biggest bunch of no nothing know it alls. I continue to be amazed at the galacticaly stupid comments this fan base produces on a regular basis. What entertainment.

Fans want to assess arm strength? Yep coach should have them throw bombs in the final minutes just after opposing team scouts run for the exits.

Watch Oden's HS highlights. Yes, it's only HS, but he is very experienced in running read option. It's what he knows. And you can see his comfort level with it today. And his legs are a big piece of it. You have to be a threat to run in this offense, and he is. Laviano is much too slow and not shifty enough for this offense, nor does he make the right reads consistently. And even when he does, his lack of athletic ability nullifies the advantage.

Oden might be the future, but that future is now. It will be growing pains, but worth it in the long run. Ash has the goodwill to grow. He isn't going to watch a hapless QB all season and get nothing out of it.

I mentioned in another thread, I like his speed but I expected that. I was very impressed with his vision and patience.
