Official Announcement - Purple Lot Chili Cook off

It was a pleasure meeting with several of you yesterday to announce the first chili cook off in the Purple Lot. I am sorry I did not have enough time to speak with everyone but noon tailgates do not leave much time.

Here is the deal. My tailgate thought it would be great idea to have a chili cook off for the Penn State game. It seems at least from the reaction from the first two rows many people thought as well. Here are the details.

Time: 2:00 to 5:00.

I will hand out tickets To anyone that wants to participate or judge. Use those tickets to vote for the chili you deem the best.

Who can enter - ANYONE (Penn State fans Allowed as well to participate)

Where will it be? In the Purple Lot - you can put the chili in front of your tailgate or you can come over to our tailgate and plug in your crock pot.

Where is my tailgate? Have you seen 20 ft Jimmy dancing all tailgate every tailgate last couple of years? That's us.

How much power will we have? A lot. 5 generators (super quiet of course). I doubt power will be a problem if you come by.

Must I come to your tailgate? No.

What to bring? Chili/crock pot/spoons and small bowls to give out / and something to collect your tickets.

Must I participate in order to taste test? Absolutely not. Mrs. Screw and her crew were invited two weeks ago. Friends of someone from the yellow lot invited. I honestly don't care who comes except for ATV's

Is this a Rutgers sanctioned event? No and I have no interest in making it one.

Is there a fee? No

After 5:00 there will be a customary dance party.

How are you going to do the judging. Just give everyone a ticket, that they will then hand to the entrant they are voting for. Then see who has the most tickets at 5pm??

Exactly. I was planning on giving multiple tickets to everyone who wants to participate so you don't have to pick your top choice. Perhaps tops 3.

Really depends on how many people show up with crock pots full of chili.

Last night one of my guys was already running through trial runs of his chili.

UPDATE

We bought 1,200 tasting cups to give up. You can of course do what you want but in the main area we plan to use those to have people try.

Hard to tell what the volume of this event will be so be prepared.

Also - the trophy has been received.
