Official RU vs. Pitt Game Thread

This was always going to take 6-7 years don’t jump off the bandwagon now everybody just because you set expectations too high.

The biggest cause for concern is recruiting not the product in the floor

A basketball rebuild doesn’t take 6-7 years. Not much progress from years 1-4 that I’ve seen

Pitt shot 5 of 16 on three pointers. That's bad. But every time they needed one they hit it.

and another thing, why do they all look so winded?? Putrid conditioning?

It's funny you say that. It seems like our opponents can run forever and our guys do seem to get winded many games. Our coaches always praise our strength and conditioning people, but it does seem like we are not in as good shape as our opponents.

Best of Luck,
Groz

They cant shoot or knock down an easy shot forget a contested shot. Our defense is terrible. Cant make a foul shot and we have at least 8 of the same exact player. One post player in Johnson.

Pike's rotation choices have to be very demoralizing to the team. Hot hands get pulled. Young continues to get way too many minutes. I just don't get it. Short of a complete turnaround this year - I just don't see it happening unfortunately.
Hot hands got pulled? Myles is the only one that did anything. Everyone else was terrible and/or took themselves out with fouling. Young played because Harper and McConnell immediately picked up two fouls and were erratic.

I probably should have made it clear that I was speaking in general.

From Pikiell to the players, everyone SUCKED tonight! Pikiell, where's the freakin' offense? Your offense tonight looked like Stringer's offense. Pass the ball around the perimeter and then take an awful outside shot that has no chance of going in.

And don't get me started on the play by everyone, because they all sucked tonight.

We just played IMO, a LOUSY Pitt team that we should beat by 10+ points on a neutral court and nearly 12-15 on our court. To lose to that team tonight the way we did is inexcusable.

I watched the entire game and couldn't believe how bad we were. We couldn't shoot outside or inside. The offensive plays called if at all by Pikiell were frankly OFFENSIVE, and what the hell is the identity of this team? We seem to have 4 out of 5 guys who look the same, shoot the same, and turnover the ball just the same. Just a despicable display of $hit BB.

We look tired because we are slow. We need to work harder.

That's why Young plays so much as well. Pike thinks we need his speed, but he seems to hurt more than he helps IMO. Never thought he would be this bad on offense.

They had a junior and a senior starting and they suck
Checking out their stats their leading scorers and minutes played. It was 1 freshman and 4 sophomores. The senior Brown played like 5 mins tonight.
I think your being to hard on the Rutgers team. Pitt beat Florida st earlier in the year.

No Pitt stinks. Our point guards guards were 3-19 with 11 turnovers

Young is horrendous

Pike still hasn't done postgame radio interview. Maybe hoping everyone will just go to bed and won't be listening.

Ok here is my assessment.

Geo, MaConnell, Young,, Mathis, Yeboah, Mulcahy, Pete Kiss (probably y he doesn't play) are

all the same player. Guards that are not consistent shooting or cant shoot.

Harper is playing out of position based on the above. He's not a 4 he's a 2 or 3. He needs to get more touches on the perimeter

Shack Cartee needs to get more minutes with him and johnson on the floor

Mulcahy right now a liability on defense getting smoked all the time which wouldn't be as bad if he brought offense to the table.
But he cant score the game needs to slow down for him a little should be much better by end if yr

Myles only guy down low but not really a post em up player

Because they are missing their shots. That is 100% the reason.

I have never ever seen anyone complain a coach got outcoached, players are soft, we have a strength and conditioning problem when a team shots a good % from 3 point land.

NEVER

I said when he was transferring and was told that Yeb and Mulcahy would make up for losing him.....lol

What would Eugene have done yesterday to change the game? Make two-pointers? We didn't have a problem doing that with Myles, Harper, and Mathis.

EO would have commanded respect in the post and defense would have collapsed down a little more opening up the outside for shooting....with EO down low RH would have gotten more touches on perimeter

He would have been a leader and made sure the silliness we saw last night would not have happened. He was also a good defender.

Why didn't he make sure the silliness we saw against Fordham didn't happen last year?
