Ohio St. Week

I just checked the box score. Are we not playing well in cage, or are we giving OSU slam dunks?

Paolatto is way too cavalier with the ball after he wins a FO. He must have 3 or 4 unforced TOs today, including 2 here in the 4th quarter.

I don’t get going empty net down 2 with 1:45. Get a stop there and a quick goal gets us within 1 with 1:30 left and you’ve got a shot. Down 3 with under 2 mins tough to overcome.

If we were even an average shooting team we win this game. Don’t think I’ve seen a team miss that many looks on the doorstep with hands free. We don’t get enough looks and when we do we don’t finish nearly at a high enough rate. We also take too many low percentage shots because we take possessions too late into the play clock.

Yeah we did miss 4 dunks today, plus Fyock saved several really good looks that we needed to bury.

Very proud of the guys today. OSU is a top team and we were right there. At their place. Guys are very close.

Only chance at the tourney without winning the BTT is to win out the rest of the way and lose in the BTT finals. One more loss and it’s Big Ten champs or bust.

This is a young team and getting better each week. We have a very good defense, a great goalie an outstanding fogo, and we are a good riding team, which means we have the key ingredients to go on a run. We are able to stack possessions. If our shooters start figuring it out we will be a team no one wants to face late in the season. Not expecting it but not counting it out either because they are young enough to still be figuring out what it takes to win at this level and dumb enough to not know that they are not “supposed to” win lol.

Glad the team is finally putting things together. But as others have pointed out. They dug themselves a significant hole that may be too deep to salvage this season. Unless they go undefeated the rest of the regular season or make a significant run in the B1G tournament. They looked they belonged on the field the last 2 weeks. Which makes some of the losses a motivational/coaching/focus issue versus an athlete problem. Team was horribly prepared to come out of the gates in those losses.

All a sign of age. Our offensive production excluding defensive midfield plays all comes from freshmen. sophs, and one senior with another year.

The offense has shown some encouraging signs, but my gut feeling tells me we are a year away in terms of experience and physical growth. I will tell you this- if any of our remaining opponents should fail to bring their A game, they will regret it. The Hopkins game is a prime example. Had it not been for Fyock's play in the second half and a couple of failed finishes on our part, OSU would have experienced the same fate. Sleep on Rutgers at your own peril.

Just finish in the top 4 of the conference. Do that and all it takes is two wins to win the conference tournament. Yes, it would still have to be against top teams and obviously very difficult. But two wins is doable
