Just saw on sportscenter 4 Ohio State players are suspended for tonight's game, including Joey Bosa.

Hopefully Meyers is feeling some heat for not maintaining a positive culture in his locker room. If I was their AD, I'd seriously have to consider firing him.

Can we please not become PSU where every other event is used to show how we aren't different? The OSU guys all failed drug tests for smoking weed. Little different than 3 home invasions. Anyone who follows RU knows we don't have a discipline issue....we had a kid make some very poor decisions that will alter the rest of his life. End of story.

OSU favored by 14 before this news. Will see how it effects the line. VA Tech at home plus 14 is intriguing.

This is silly, if you want to compare us to Ohio State...well, they're National Champs and all this dumb sh×t happens to us and we're still trying to be relevant. Great comparison.

You are missing my point

Players get suspended (and arrested) all the time (unfortunately), and you N E V E R hear someone calling for the head coach to be fired.

N-E-V-E-R!

Just pointing out another example of how stupid and spiteful nj.com, NJ 101.5, and other hacks are towards RU

And yes, armed robbery (ONE current player was involved - not 5) and assault (but we do NOT know the details of what happened here) are worse than drug use, but the media and some of our fans still use things like the suspension of Carroo and friends as part of their justification for canning Flood. Those first half suspensions should not reflect 1 iota on Flood, as no one in the country gives a darn about player suspensions (at least no one with a microphone or newspaper keyboard).

Do you really think anybody in the world would call for Urban Meyer being fired because of these suspensions? Coaches in the past have been fired for the actions of their players, don't try to rewrite history. I agree that coaches that win big get ALOT more leeway, in our case Flood doesn't fall in that category.

Add that to the Nebraska suspensions, and Indiana as well, I think evey administrator in the B1G should be a goner

Name one coach who has been fired based on the actions of his players.

"Players get suspended (and arrested) all the time (unfortunately), and you N E V E R hear someone calling for the head coach to be fired."

I just wish we would see a few articles in the Jersey media showing how ridiculous it really is to rush to judgement and call for the coach to be fired when 18-22 year olds in college do get in trouble everywhere. Players will do dumb things. Some will do violent things. And some will do things worthy of being thrown in jail or kicked out of school. Rutgers is not unique in this.

It's amazing that ANY ARTICLES come out like the USA Today one making it look like this is the worst time in history for Rutgers or the Ledger pieces on Flood must go.

It would be nice to see someone serve as the voice of reason for once...

Most of the OSU team suspensions (and others) were for team rules violations, not felony arrests.

Name one coach where one of his players committed a felony and people called for the coach to be fired because of that act.

Did Franklin get fired for the Vandy rape case?
What is worse, 4 players raping someone and taking VIDEO of their actions, or 1 bad apple who robbed drug dealers?

(Both are bad)

Did that stop people from backing Franklin?
Did he get fired?
Did TTFP hire him?
Did people on this board want Rutgers to hire him?

No, he didn't get fired. Yes he did get hired. I suppose that a few wanted to hire him but they were a very small minority.

Lol, every coach that's been fired has been fired because of the actions of their players...if you win you keep your job, no matter what, if you lose the actions of your players become a big deal.....on and off the field.

Small minority?
People wanted him as much as anyone else.
There was no consensus name people were asking for.
But Franklin had as much support as anyone.

And my point is why are people calling for Flood's head, but public outcry against Franklin and others was very minimal, and national media did not call for his head?

Which is a program out of control - 1 where there is a gang rape, or ours?

That's not what he means and you know it. Anyone that follows sports (fans, players, coaches, reporters with/without agendas) knows that losing a lot of games will get a coach fired.

That's also not what you meant (winning and losing games) when you said, "Coaches in the past have been fired for the actions of their players" and you know that too. Don't move the goalposts. Either name a coach (I would say name at least two, as you said "coaches") that falls into that category, or admit you were overstating things earlier in this thread.

Smoking weed etc?.... didn't the break in involve weed? Seems to me there might be a connection there between one of the culprits and those who were allegedly broken into.

They got stoners we got thugs

what is so hard to understand?
Urban Myer > Kyle Flood

That's all you got?
Weak

Urban won a Nat Championship, so it's okay for his program to have player suspensions (remember the DISASTER he left at Florida)

But Flood hasn't, so it's okay to hammer him for things Meyer fans wouldn't blink an eye at

Gotcha
But we know, it's because you want Flood out of here and are just looking for a convenient reason to do so

Nice fan

Well you know without paying attention to all the details of things around the country maybe we're finally seeing the slightest of ticks in the right direction, at least in the B10. I don't know what other schools have done. 9 suspended at IU, some for both Nebraska/BYU, 4 for OSU against VT (not exactly pansy competition) and we've obviously kicked out our bad seeds.

Maybe, and that's a big maybe, with some of the bad publicity out there like the Baylor/Boise State thing schools may learn there need to be real consequences for bad behaviors from missing games to being thrown out. I suppose its too pie in the sky to think we'll ever see it completely cleaned up with appropriate consequences being doled out but at the very least maybe the pendulum is swinging a bit in the other direction.
