I think the staff should go all in on their recruitment of Charles Bassey for the last spot in the 2019 class, and not even try to recruit anyone else. We haven't offered yet but I think we should soon, he's pretty good. Thoughts?

Yeah thats a tall order haha. I agree a big is needed.

I think we prob focus on a 4 star local guy, maybe Mulcahy can swing someone

I thought this guy decommitted from Syracuse and was going to find path (D or G League) to skip college all together. Am I confusing him with someone else?

We are recruiting Koulibaly and Massoud (etc, etc) as bigs as well. Coach would be a fool not to look at this kid (if he has any interest ), but the idea that Coach Pikiell stopped recruiting the other bigs we have been looking at is a silly thought even for this board.

I thought the sarcasm was evident in a post where I referred to the #3 player in the country as "pretty good." Was just trying to have a little fun after they Mulcahy news. Would love any of the above kids, though if we don't take a center we will have a small lineup and will be playing with fire a bit with Johnson as your only 6'10" guy.

Probably. His coach sent out this tweet after we visited so there is some level of acknowledgment there. Hey, I say keep recruiting him til he and his handlers say no thanks! He would be so ideal from a roster fit perspective beyond his talent level.

Probably just me, but it seems between the hashtags/@'s & character limits, new media is just totally butchering the language. No quality control & you get things like 'covfefe' and 'great hands with this man at the helms'. Reminds me of that internet meme where you can actually read the paragraph but it is missing letters or contains misspellings.

Concerning Bassey, I'd think a one & done is not what the program needs currently.

He probably just doesn't know that helm should be singular, kind of confusing it with "reins".

You can recruit anyone who’s interested but if you read Mulcahys comments, he liked how pike stuck with him and watched him play evert chance he got. We have to use resources wisely as we are not a brand name just yet. Nice to see this kids highschool coach recognizing Pikiell as a good coach.

Forget about spending time and resources on a 5-Star kid who is bound for a factory or the NBA.

Focus on Hyatt, Massoud, and Coulibaly, whom we’ve been recruiting for a long while and actually have a chance.

And now I have hope. Screw it, I'm booking my final four tickets for 2020

Oh and he reclassified to 2018 and is already on campus

only the 2nd year in a row with a top 10 commit at WKU.

No coincidence I'm sure that WKU's coach Rick Stansbury just spent 14 years as HC in the SEC with Mississippi State who has had their own share of suspiciously awesome recruits over the years despite almost no major on court success. 5 star recruits like Rodney Hood, Renardo Sidney, Monte Ellis, Jamont Gordon, Travis Outlaw, etc. all signed for Stansbury while at MSU.

Surely they can't be signing up for the player development he showed for those 5 star recruits who had very little on court success.

3 of those 5 had very successful NBA careers, that's a good ratio even for 5* players.

At least one of those kids was a head case and another transferred to Duke.

I'm not a fan of Stansbury but he did take Mississippi State to six NCAA tournaments and five NIT and finished first, tied for first or second in the SEC West seven times during this time at a school where the athletic department probably spins more attention on three other sports (Football, Spring Football and
Baseball).

If Pikiell stays at Rutgers for 14 years and takes the program to six NCAA Tournaments there will be some fans who will be writing the school demanding a statue be built for him.

they didn't have successful careers because of the coaching in college. Monte Ellis signed with Mississippi State but never attended because he pulled out to enter the NBA draft. Rodney Hood transferred to Duke.

I think most people are starting a Gofund me for the statue once he takes us dancing the first time, forget 6 trips!
