Late in the game Laviano ran to his right and Martin was wide open right in front of him and he never passed the ball to Martin. Instead he got tackled going out of bounds on the 15 for a 4 yard loss. Myself and the people around me were going nuts that he did not see Martin or never threw him the ball. Hard to believe. we gave the game away.

Laviano had another brain freeze there. We were all going nuts, all he had to do was throw a soft toss about 7 yards to a wide open Martin for an easy TD. That blunder and not pitching to Harris for another walk in TD is what drives the fans nuts.

Just poor, poor recognition and execution.

Watching the replay, Martin was clearly the second or third receiver in the play. Laviano overestimated, I think, the time he would have to check down to Martin because the Iowa DB or LB closed on him very quickly. So yeah, would've been a few more yards had he been quicker to check down, but I didn't see what happened downfield, maybe it looked like a WR might come free near the end zone for a TD.

So yeah, what looks obvious to someone watching from the seats or from home is a lot easier to see from the seats or on tv. Try viewing it from Laviano's perspective on the field and my guess is you'd have a bit more patience.

Fans keep questioning poor quarterback performance and wonder why the coaching staff don't agree with their assessment.Sadly,I'm afraid this discussion will continue through the remainder of the season without the change that fans desire.

We need a FBS level QB and we don't have one.
We have a Division 2 level QB and unfortunately with him starting we are looking at maybe 4 wins as our ceiling.

Agreed. Laviano was looking to throw a TD in that play. It was a bad read but it happens. His biggest mistake was not just throwing it away.

There was another play a bit later, I think -- Laviano was pressured -- he did a spin-a-rama to his left to avoid the sack, had a receiver cutting to his left over the middle, a foot in front of the cover man -- could have had him on the run for a decent gain. Instead, he took the sack. I'm not sure it's guts -- he seems to have that -- it's vision and instinct -- that's not something you can really teach, unfortunately.

^^^^THIS^^^^

These two plays had me screaming at the TV like a mad man. My wife had to take the remote away from me!!

Abro is absolutely right, but I would amend this quote with "Just p1ss, poor recognition and execution".

But this is just not a one game Brain Fart on his part. It's nearly every game. It's a pattern. The rest of the QB's need to grow up in a hurry because while Chris may be a gamer with "tough as nails character", which I applaud, he just can't put it all together.

Well other folks are happy we got a participation trophy today. This game was Rutgers to the and it was given to Iowa on a silver platter. If you want to be a champion you have to think and act like one.

He's just not a playmaker. He misses far too many plays and even when he does see it, he's too gun shy.

Only a matter of time before Oden passes him.

His throws are like dead ducks. It takes it for ever to get to the receiver
It's weird though, his deep balls he throws line drives. He should have floated that ball to Harris on that deep pass. Instead he throws it as hard as he can on a low trajectory. Nova was actually good at throwing that deep pass because he would lead his receivers and float it overtop.

Laviano shouldn't be playing & wouldn't for any other P5 achool & likely no other FBS school.

Another poor execution by CL.
Harris had two steps on the CB and was cutting towards his right. What does CL do ? Throw to the outside shoulder of Harris and overthrown at that.
UGLY pass after another UGLY pass is an ongoing Knightmare problem.
