Jordan putting him out on the three when our team was not made up of great shooters was a mistake. Also, not using him in a pick and roll when he has a long first step and a willing shot. Oh well.
Willing shot is right. He was "willing" to take them and miss them instead of attacking the rim like the coach wanted. He could have been a 20 and 7 guy if he did attacked the rim instead of settling for jumpers. One of games he played the way he was supposed to play was Wisconsin and they could not stop him going to the basket. In the post game interview he even admitted that he needed to stop settling for jumpers.
He is very much still focused on the 3 pt shot. Even at the 3 pt level.
We act like there is a huge transition to shooting the 3 pt shot, and its benefits.
Not many teams can shoot it like Gs though, and the 3pt shot is a reason they got to the series, and the reason they lost the series. It cannot be relied on more heavily than driving to the basket.
This post ignores the fact that the Cavs took plenty of 3 point shots too.
Posters on this board would go crazy over a Roy Hibbert type of player.
The entire NBA game is layups and 3's.
College is gradually heading that way-------mid range game gradually becoming a thing of the past.
I'm quite serious------Pick and Roll and Pick and Pop are the offense of choice in todays hoops.
An amount that's only going to decrease in the future. I definitely appreciate zagging when everyone is zigging. However, unless you get a guy like Wes Unseld who was automatic with his mid-range jump shot, it's not a value shot. When you zag, you still need to get value. You can't exchange 2 pointers for 3 pointers.
Teams averaged around 24 3 point attempts a game this year.
Pretty much all of the conference finals teams except for OKC were in the top half of the league in terms of makes. Cleveland & GSW were Top 3.
