On the Banks: Q&A with Kadeem Jack

We forget quickly about RU players it seems.

Hopefully KJ makes it somewhere. I watched some of his d league clip. Has the skills, but seems to be getting back late on defense at a lot of points. He is playing in the pick and rolll at times, and I think that benefits him. I see him a more of a small forward than anything.

Jordan putting him out on the three when our team was not made up of great shooters was a mistake. Also, not using him in a pick and roll when he has a long first step and a willing shot. Oh well.

Willing shot is right. He was "willing" to take them and miss them instead of attacking the rim like the coach wanted. He could have been a 20 and 7 guy if he did attacked the rim instead of settling for jumpers. One of games he played the way he was supposed to play was Wisconsin and they could not stop him going to the basket. In the post game interview he even admitted that he needed to stop settling for jumpers.

Absolutely. But why was Jack on the 3 pt line to begin with?Jack is for sure a 3. His mindset is that he cannot handle the paint in the higher leagues. He said it himself. Why did Jordan allow him to ever be at the 3 pt line?

He is very much still focused on the 3 pt shot. Even at the 3 pt level.

We act like there is a huge transition to shooting the 3 pt shot, and its benefits.

Not many teams can shoot it like Gs though, and the 3pt shot is a reason they got to the series, and the reason they lost the series. It cannot be relied on more heavily than driving to the basket.

*Even at the d league level. Someone said he was a projected 3 and d guy.

I want to see Jack succeed, and get the most from the game he has put so much t ime into.I also remember him having some weaknesses, and defensive awareness was one of them.

Jack will find his place, here or overseas.

This post ignores the fact that the Cavs took plenty of 3 point shots too.

Posters on this board would go crazy over a Roy Hibbert type of player.

Well how heavy is the 3pt shot emphasized for the rest of the NBA?What are teams shooting it at?Jacks best game was driving inside, and when he started taking threes his game changed.

The entire NBA game is layups and 3's.

College is gradually heading that way-------mid range game gradually becoming a thing of the past.

I do not know if you are serious, but there are tons of guys taking jumpers.

I'm quite serious------Pick and Roll and Pick and Pop are the offense of choice in todays hoops.

For sure but what do those lead to-jump shots, 3 pt shots, layups. I agree it is not the preferred shot, but it is still being used at a good amount.

An amount that's only going to decrease in the future. I definitely appreciate zagging when everyone is zigging. However, unless you get a guy like Wes Unseld who was automatic with his mid-range jump shot, it's not a value shot. When you zag, you still need to get value. You can't exchange 2 pointers for 3 pointers.

I hear you.My question is, do you know the 3 pt shooting percentages of the teams around the NBA or are we just watching the GSW and thinking everyone does it like them?

Lebron helped win the final games off his jump shot. I am a big believer in getting to the basket. You can get fouled or make a shot. Help your team, hurt the other.

Teams averaged around 24 3 point attempts a game this year.

Pretty much all of the conference finals teams except for OKC were in the top half of the league in terms of makes. Cleveland & GSW were Top 3.

Thanks Cyrock. A good percentage I would think is 35.0 and above. Half the teams are hitting it at that rate.Good to see my Knicks not in last!
