Candido Sa is going to be a different player this next season. I see 5 and 5 out of him and higher.

I agree. I think he's gonna tear it up every game. I'm gonna predict slightly lower though. I think he's goin' 3 and 3 nightly. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Fair fair. Depends if someone is brought as a transfer for a 4/5 spot.

He was 3.2 pts/2.8 rbs in 13.5 min last year. Just increasing his minutes to Gettys' 22/game would put him at 5.2/4.5 (vs. Gettys' 7.7/5.2). I'd have to think being a "different player" would take him to at least Gettys' production.

I would welcome that. Seems to have all the potential in the world, and now it is time to progress.

When On The Banks did the interview with Pikiell on April 18th, Pikiell said the following about Sa. Was Sa playing hurt?

With the current roster and the losses you’ve had personnel wise, who are you most excited about and see potential in with guys already on the roster, in terms of being able to step up in bigger roles next season?

“I’m excited by them all. I think Mike Williams is having a great offseason. I think Candido has made a huge jump here. I think he is healthy and making strides. I think the year helped him a little bit to figure it out. I expect him to have a terrific year next season.......

I was excited about Sa at first - thought he was a steal. Then he hit the B1G and seemed to me to drop off in a big way. It is understandable to some extent. But we needed more from him. The layup instead of jam and ensuing FT misses at the end of WI were a microcosm of his B1G season.

I think with a year under his belt he will do better. Mike, I think he will do more with blocks although I felt it was one of the better parts of his game last year. He swatted a few.

Sa needs to develop a mean streak. Not dirty, but controled aggression. He was pushed around some inside. Needs an attack mode on offense, defense, and the boards.

Hopefully the weight room work and working with Coach Young will bring out more from him.

I would like to see him develop a go to move in the post....maybe a jump hook with his length.....and,...limit the set shot outside shots.

Don't know why every "big" doesn't develop a jump hook.

Austin Johnson became an effective offense player once he developed a hook.

A lost art....just like the mid range jumper or guys hitting a nice soft bank shot. Even for guards, Corey Sanders game would be so much better if he drove with his quickness and pulled up for a nice little bank shot.

But in league play he averaged 1.5 points on 32% shooting from the field and 27% from the foul line. His rebounding was a little better at 2 per game in just over 10 minutes. More than anyone on the team, his play regressed in league competition. His form on offense completely broke down. I am hoping that he will get back to where he was when he showed flashes in the early season. However, I would be uncomfortable without another big man going into next season.

He definitely faded over the first six games of league play... and after that his minutes fell off a cliff.

Over the 13 OOC games, he averaged 18.8 min, with 5.3 pts and 4.1 rbs (43% shooting from the field, 33% from three, 50% from the line)
Over the first 6 games of league play, he averaged 18.2 min, with just 2.2 pts and 4.2 rbs (27% shooting from the field, 0% from three, 17% from the line).
Over the last 13 games of the year (inc. the tournament), he averaged just 6 min/game, with 1.5 pts and 0.8 rb (43% shooting from the field, 0% from three, 50% from the line)

With Pikiell's "I think he is healthy and making strides" comment, I wonder if he got hurt in some way at the start of league play.

I did not know he was playing hurt - – I am certainly no expert but it appeared that something had gotten into his head down the stretch.
