If Pike lands a 5-star from Roselle Catholic, the sky is the limit for RU hoops! I'll believe it when I see it, but you have to be in it to win it.
Why the doubt? We will all believe it when we see it but one of the reasons for getting Coach P was the belief that he could do exactly this type of recruiting. I prefer to look at it the opposite way. St. Johns should be worried more about losing him to us than we should be of losing him to them.
Pikiell will do his best but to compete at a higher level for high 4* to 5* rated kids is something that historically isn't something many fans should expect....there are some factors that some believe he will want to stay closer to home, but a lot would need to come together to start landing this type of elite talent. Kudos for Pikiell staying aggressive, which is the only chance RU has here, but the rest of the staff can also sell/recruit/coach, so the days of recruits not being sure they will develop at RU, are pretty much over with this staff.....A Reid type of player will develop and improve under this staff.
Everything you say is true. But every journey begins with a single step and I believe Coach P believes in this journey believes he can get him and that is why he is recruiting him. So, I will expect that weare going to start getting the 4 and 5 star guys. Maybe the journey starts here with this recruit. We will see.
I believe more power forward. He has a lot of interest, but never say never. Pikiell has improved players, and that is what a recruit wants to hear. That their staff has the ability to raise their playing level by a lot. Not every program does that.
Well see what happens. I share similar sentiments to what Hawk said, but in time, Pikiell will have a chance at these kids of players. It would be a big get, and I would bring a pizza to share with fans outside the RAC if it happened. I am realistic, and also know we have a Geo Baker recruit that has great potential on the Banks. The program needs a power forward, and preferably a 4 year grad student, or impressive JUCO center.
It's hard to erase doubt when you've been a Rutgers Basketball season ticket holder for almost 30 years! ;)
Hey we landed Mike Rosario (McD AA) and Greg Echenique within the last 10 years. Both 4-stars. There's no reason to think Pike & Co. can't land similar recruits now that the facilities are being upgraded.
Plus 1. And Corey and Freeman are both 4 star players too.
At the very least, its now fun to come to the basketball board. I frankly didn't even check this board for about two years. We were that bad. I don't expect to always win, but demand the team be competitive. So far, mission exceeded!
Mack and Jack were both consensus 4 star players as well
