School with the last Heisman winning QB has a starting QB who is a transfer from 1AA. His backup who is now starting is a walk on. How does the richest program in the country land in this situation?

whats your point?
what's my point? People here love bitching about everything. The most funded school in the land has a 1AA transfer and walk on at QB. Imagine Flood had that? My bad for pointing out the reality of college football. Lets return to our regular Flood bashing threads…..

Why do so many point to exceptions to the norm of excellence in football as rationalization of the fact we never have sustained success. Oooh, look Oregon isn't ranked. Anyone can have a bad season. Oooh, look a program as rich in tradition as Texas has been struggling the last few years soooo..... It's ok that Rutgers still hasn't broken out. Why don't we focus on big state schools who have had perrennial finishes in the top 25 as what we should be. It's like saying "oh look at that rich successful couple- they argue sometimes. Hence, I shouldn't feel bad that my marriage is a shit show." * (just an analogy. I'm young and not close to being interested in being married)

It's called deflection.

It's called deflection.
And for everyone else it's called self-pity. Let's bitch and moan about everything into an oblivion of doom. Flood sucks. Our coordinators suck. Our QB sucks. Our student section sucks. Our running game sucks. Our OL sucks. Our DL sucks. Our secondary sucks. Other teams don't suck because they lost but looked competitive and we don't. We had one really bad game, and a contingent of this board has declared the season as over.

On and on. Rinse and repeat. And on a bye week.

It's not deflection. It's accepting what we have right now and not crying about it. I don't see the point about the endless complaining about the same things over and over. If RU wins 5 or less games, changes should and hopefully will be made But if crying and whining makes some of you guys feel better, then have at it.

And DEFLECTION is accusing those that don't want to hear crying and whining of being Flood supporters or the blue sky crowd. Some fans just choose to not focus on the negative every day in every thread.

Oregon in the past, used to really suck. Much worse than us. Many of you are too young to remember that.

First off, the OP had nothing to do with us. It was an observation.

The QB, Vernon Adams, was a 3 year starter for Eastern Wash, and won the Big Sky conference in all 3 years. Oregon wanted to go with an experienced winning QB. This is the same situation as Michigan who started Ruddock a transfer from Iowa. Everyone knows the QB position is the hardest one to find the right fit.

Jeff Lockie is the backup QB recruited 2012 by Oregon has about the same number of passes as Adams. Taylor Alie, might be the walk on you are talking about had 9 passes the last game.

Oregon recruited a 4 star recruit in 2014, 2015, and 2016 that might be a starter in the future. Adams has 1 year and done. Michigan recruited 2 4 stars for 2015 and 2 4 stars for 2016, who knows which one will work out. It's a crap shoot just like the Rutgers QB. Harbough knows he won't get to the next level without the star QB and that's why he searching so hard. He'll keep on bringing in 2 4 stars every year still he gets it right.

Flood could have Tom Brady on his team and he would still play Laviano because he knows the system better.

Fail. "When he enrolled at Michigan, Brady was seventh on the depth chart and had an intense struggle to get some playing time. At one point, Brady hired a sports psychologist to help him cope with frustration and anxiety and even considered transferring to California."

I am glad that you brought this up. I know about Brady's time at UMich and his QB controversy with Drew Henson, but is it possible that the Lloyd Carr failed to see his talent so he wasn't given more PT? If he was, he may have been drafted in the first round instead of the 6th round. In the same way, it's also possible that Flood can also be playing the wrong QB as well. To me, he and Joe Montana are the best 2 QB's that I have ever seen play.

It happens. Schiano did it with Savage. There are many other examples. Sometimes the "best" player in terms of skills sits on the bench for other reasons.
