Good for him. I dont believe he was here as a non profit.I hope Ash gets paid for his future success as well.

looks like hes here till june of 2017 the latest..he even said hes not staying past his contract end date. There were whispers that he wil announce at graduation this year (2016) that he will be leaving next year.

When he leaves let's hire Tressel. LOL.
Upward move, and we know he recognizes the value of a strong program.

Of course I kid, but that would be FUNNY!

After the hammer he laid down this November and the resulting investment in athletics, I'm not sure I want him to leave any more.

But he has a history of firing people after they learned a lesson in doing their jobs.. so its fitting that he goes that way too.

He took a substantial amount of grief on this board for quite a while for allegedly not caring about athletics, or not "getting it," but when he acted it was swift and decisive. Maybe he waited too long, or maybe he didn't, but when he finally had enough he pulled the trigger, emptied the gun, and faded into the background again, leaving us with what appears to be two good hires. I'm not sure I want him to go either. From all accounts he is very good at what he was hired to do, and when he decided it was time to fix the AD/football mess, it was clean-up on aisle five with a vengeance.

Do you happen to have a link to whatever you're talking about or should I go scour the web to try and find out what this is all about?

He crushed it in November. And if Hobbs takes care of business in March, it will have been a tremendous few months.

I agree with everything in the contract, including the pay raises, bonuses, and professorship position, except for the "one-year sabbatical at full pay." I think that kind of perk would be appropriate for someone who has served in a high level position for ten years or more OR if it required that some of the time would be spent in the position as a "lobbyist" for Rutgers or an advisor to the next president. That being said, it's very difficult to be a public university president today, and people in those positions deserve to be highly compensated.

Perhaps a "reward" for finally buying in to supporting Rutgers athletics. How quickly some forget the manner in which he threw TP under the bus or bungled the hiring of a new AD after that. Fortunately he benefits from hiring Hobbs who has been excellent and affective since day one and was someone who earned his stripes and respect thru the NJ political process. I am sure he even knew of Hobbs previously. On the other hand one has to applaud the BOG and Barchi for the work done in establishing the Honors College and the objective of his original hire in blending the Med School into Rutgers where it should have been in the first place.

NJ politics is very strange in how it works. Notice how quite Sweeney and friends have been lately. Makes one wonder when the next shoe will drop.

Not that unusual a perk for a presidential contract. Often included in original contracts. The person making the case for the president would say S/He would be due for a sabbatical if they stayed put at old employee. Add this to make them whole while leaving that time accrued toward a year paid off at the old employer.

Maybe he waited until the political climate was right. He started acting after the Chris Christie Sh!t or get off the pot comment.
