OT: BIG is way overrated

Of the first six bowl games the B1G played, it was only a favorite in one (Michigan-FSU) and not by much in that one. Minnesota and Northwestern won as underdogs. If not, the league might be looking at 0-6. They had played very competitively until OSU crapped out against Clemson. Getting four teams into the top ten forced several teams to punch above their weight, and the B1G ended up matched against eight top 25 teams. I don't think any other league plays more than four. I felt the league this year was well-balanced, but had no teams of a national championship caliber. Ohio State is too young, Penn State has a so-so offensive line, Michigan was not great at QB and didn't have great overall quickness, Wisconsin has a good D, but a pedestrian offense. OSU and Penn State both should be highly rated next year. Meanwhile, the highly touted B1G East will go 0-5 in bowls if Penn State loses. Yeah, the East has played some of the tougher teams, but they represent the top end of the conference. Wisconsin is the best chance for a win in the remaining games.

Excellent post. The B1G's matchups weren't exactly great due to the fact that 4 teams made playoff/NY6 games. It moved everybody else up a notch or two and, well, this is what happens.

The B1G ended up at 3-7 which doesn't look good for us since we were the worst team in the B1G last year

bottom line is the Big 10 didnt have a good bowl season, it doesnt mean its an overrated league, some years it will do well, some not, sometimes matchups determine things. Tip your hat to the ACC, they had a strong year. Thats why I laugh when posters slam the ACC for not being legit..um hello, sounds like bitter grapes. Some years the ACC will be good, some they will not. In general all the conferences are in the same range. Big 10 has three really bad programs right now in Illinois, Purdue and Rutgers which might be a big more than the other conferences

Funny how you left Maryland out of that equation. Maryland sucks too. They gave up 36 points to Fredo for goodness sake! Fredo scored fewer points on UMass, Buffalo and Yukon.
Remember, they played FIU, UCF and Purdue, while we played New Mexico, UW and Iowa). Yeah, they beat MSU while they were flailing, and they beat us, but they got hammered by UM and tOSU just like we did. Plus they got thrashed by Minnesota.

for petes sake, they may suck but they did make a bowl at 6-6 and had 3 Big 10 wins including Michigan State., I know this board tries to say Maryland and Rutgers are equal but its laughable, its the same thing you were saying before the teams played and look who won rather non threateningly

and hello UCF/NM same level, and um they played Purdue and RU played Illinois...so at least get the matchups right...Them playing Minny matches with RU playing Iowa. Otherwise the big difference is the FIU vs Washington

oh and of course lets not count head to head that doesnt count..doesnt count because 6-6 has suddenly become the new 2-10
