For what it's worth, a big-time Maryland booster has heard Frank Reich (former Maryland QB and current Chargers OC) and another name that is too far out to even mention at this time, but might not be so far-fetched it Kevin Planck/Under Armour money backs the latter coach.

Good I hope so. I was thinking USC might go to some NFL assistant route as well. I think Herman would be a good fit for them but I think they want bigger. Bill Obrien coached under Friedgen at Maryland IIRC so that's the connection. Cristobal to Miami is good too. Neither are candidates we'd hire and it takes 2 P5 jobs off the table.

Like I said we're not shopping in the same district as some of these schools. So while there is competition it's not necessarily as much you may seem on first blush. Minnesota hired their DC too so they're out of the picture and Purdue has said they're bringing back Hazell so that removes them too as a potential opening.

EDIT: Just looked at the link and they updated it with a report from someone who covers the Texans to say BOB has no interest in Maryland job. Too bad, but you never know with these type of things.
