Wimbush might have been the best NJ HS QB I've ever seen, and now it appears he's 3rd string at ND, maybe will never get a start. Does he get impatient and transfer , does he bide his time hoping that maybe by his senior year he gets a start ? I know RU was never in serious consideration for him, but can you imagine Wimbush at RU now with Drew Mehringer's spread offense? Too late to transfer ?

If he is lucky he will get to RS this year, compete for a job next year and finally get his shot in 2018.

Heck, SPP Jonathan Lewis may start before SPP Wimbush, but probably not.

Definitely sour grapes about Wimbush but I couldn't care less. He played our staff like a fiddle for months. If he would have gotten into Stanford maybe he would be there instead. If he never gets a shot at ND he can thank his HS coach.

I don't remember him being a serious option for RU.

I really don't remember it happening like that, seems he committed to Penn St pretty early, and then flipped on Penn St to ND. Maybe I'm wrong.

Committed to PSU early and then immediately started flirting with other schools. First serious threat was Stanford but he didn't get in. Then it was ND and that was that.

I only saw him play once on TV and he was spectacular. I thought he could start anywhere.

So when did he play our staff like a fiddle?

Ring...ring Hello, thank you for calling the University of Delaware athletic office. How may I direct your call?

If the kid truly loves ND and is making the most of his education there, then great for him (seriously). That being said, football-wise, this can be a prime example of why the biggest 'name' offer doesn't necessarily mean the best 'fit' for the kid. Honestly, if I were a kid that needed a couple years to develop, a place like ND or Alabama would be the last place I'd want to go, because I think they'd be the quickest to leave you behind.

Plenty of players redshirt at Notre Dame. He will be a RS freshman the backup is senior, the starter is junior. His opportunity is still there. His mother fell in love with Notre Dame academics and how they sold her on what they do for their student athletes due to their alumni network, more specifically the black alumni association. She even said she don't care if he never plays (but that could just be mother talk). One of her prerequisites was that her son would redshirt as freshman. Now he might be a little frustrated because he would likely be starting at PSU. He is a good runner, not a great runner but love his arm. He was also a very good baseball player coming into SPP out of Teaneck.

Wimbush is a RS soph, 1 year behind Kizer who is a Junior. Zaire is a Sr. Kizer started 10 games last year after Zaire got injured in the 2nd game vs Virginia.

Wimbush hasn't used his RS. He is a true So. Kelly played him in a 62-27 blowout win over UMASS. His best bet is to RS this year as Zaire and Kizer are going to be the top two guys.

Zaire is a RS JR and Kizer is a RS SO. Even if one of them were to have an outstanding season and then go pro, one of them is most likely the penciled in starter for 2017.

Would love for him to get a hardship waiver and and get to play at RU. Remeber how USF always got players eligible with transfers.

He interned At KMPG. I'm pretty sure he's very focused on academics. Not to mention one hell of a football player

Two points here Pedd State fan:
1. There's a regular poster here who is a St. Peter's grad and also an ex-Navy Seal or something like that who gets riled up when you criticize anything Prep related...especially coach Hansen. Tread lightly
2. Wimbush is the best NJ high school quarterback I've ever seen, going all the way back to Joe Theismann and Drew Pearson with my South River Rams in the late 60s. He'll get his chance at Notre Dame.

I've never seen him play but just wondering about the PSU comment, about he'd be the starter this year. I've heard that they are changing their offensive system to a spread. My question is if it is a similar system that Rutgers, Houston and OSU will be running or if it will be more WSU and what Houston used to run.

Cute intro.

That's awesome that there is a Seal guy here. We owe a lot to the people who serve our country. One of my best buddies is an ex-Ranger.

3rd string? Maybe he isn't as good as people thought.

When he flipped to ND, there wasn't a PSU fan who could understand it when looking at the depth charts. Long way to go for his career but there were definitely clearer paths available.

A real shame. . .would have started Day 1 at Rutgers. . . and I don't think Notre Dame allows for redshirts. . .

No redshirts. To use a 5th year of eligibility, a player must apply for and gain admittance to one of ND's graduate schools. So, ND players can gain an extra year, but not until they graduate.

When he was flirting with the other schools did you guys consider pulling his offer?

Plus, Notre Dame has the number 1 dual threat QB in the nation from Pittsburgh coming in 2018. Jurkovitch sp?

Who is 6-5 and runs like a deer and throws strikes. Kids a freak athlete

Well, Wimbush is only 6'1".....but he's as sure a shot as I've ever seen.
Of course, injuries can always sidetrack a guy's career.
BTW, for you outside New Jersey...Minkah Fitzpatrick was actually regarded as highly as Wimbush off of that St. Peter's Prep team. He started at safety last year for Alabama as a true freshman.

Good luck to him. I will never wish any kid harm. BUT, even though I read this thread(nothing else to do) I don't CARE what his present or future is.OUR guys are whom I care about.
