OT-Christie Cancels Monday NJ Forum To Be With Trump. VP Announcement?

NJ.com is reporting:

1) NJ.com has reported that Christie has postponed a forum in Fair Lawn Monday to be with Trump in Virginia (Veterans Speech).

2) Trump is expected to announce his VP pick pre-Conventiom-possibly this week.

Though not the odds on favorite could this be the VP announcement? A Trump-Christie ticket?

Won't Christie be busy this fall being cross examined by both Bridget Kelly's lawyer and Bill Baloney's lawyer in the Bridgegate trials ? Those lawyers now are saying they are going to subpoena Christie's cell phone again but w a narrower focus, plus now they discovered Christie was using a different e mail account ( a joint one w his wife) to conduct business during Bridgegate, so the defense lawyers want to subpoena them too.
And interestingly , Trumps son in law(Kushner) newspaper, The Observer, is reporting that Christie's appointment to the Port Authority as Chairman, David Samson, is going to plead guilty this week ( but refusing to testify). By coincidence, Christie prosecuted Kushners father years ago.
All this leads me below Christie is going to be way too busy during the debate season and campaign season to be a VP.

Christie has real problems. He is banking on some kind of appointment from President Trump.. AG, SCOTUS.. doubt VP is in the works. Put it this way, he has alienated so many supporters in his home state.. he cannot add much to the ticket.

Negatives, Negatives and More Negatives. What a sad state of affairs the American Political scene has become.

Maybe he should say he is gay because that somehow exonerates you from national security and corruption crimes. Maybe he should say that he didn't steal 2.1bln $ from customer accounts at MF Global because that doesn't count either.

Bridge traffic is far more serious.

The best VP candidates that would seem to do anything to broaden his appeal is Ben Carson or the Gov. of New Mexico, but she has already ruled that out. Christie would do nothing to broaden his appeal.

Here's an interesting tidbit, only 1 NJ GOP congressman will attend the GOP convention. They are running away from Trump , and I guess Christie too. Bush , Romney and other prominent Republicans also not going to the convention.

As much as I dislike Trump, Bush, Romney and the others ruined this party. I give Trump credit for doing the opposite of what everyone expects. His numbers keep rising when he pulls a George Constanza. I just think people are tired of the current Republican Party. In its current state, it will take a long time to ever win the presidency when people like Ted Cruz are front runners. As for Hillary, she just shows the young generation that if you are a Democrat, lying and deceiving works. With all events going on right now, the fall of America is here.

I'm not sure if Trump will select a politician, this is in interesting option:

I can definitely see Trump tapping a general for VP.

I think Hillary will win in a landslide. Trump selecting Christie would guarantee it.
Be careful, the same people that claimed Brexit was going down in flames are the same saying Trump is going to get crushed. Is Trump going to win, probably not, but we have a long way to go and he has an opponent that voters believe by a 2-1 margin is crooked vs. honest. Hillary's numbers can go south in an instance.

To expand on that, I think people are tired of both parties. The same types of people keep getting elected to office, taxes keep going up, jobs keep leaving the country, more and more money pours into political campaigns, the country is more divided after every presidential term, major problems are continually kicked down the road, candidates continually change where they stand based on the latest Twitter poll, etc, etc, rinse, wash, repeat.

While Christie is not a member of the LGBT community ...he IS an avowed Omnivore.

We can only hope.

I would love to see the national media staked out here in September when Christie is exposed as the man who directed the GWB lane closure to punish the mayor of Fort Lee for not endorsing him during the annivesary of 9/11.

I would love to see Christie talk about Hillary's emails so we can talk about his missing text messages.

We would get to the see modern GOP go down in flames while our worst governor is exposed as a corrupt, lying bully. It's a dream for those of us who love democracy.

Christie gave Sandy funds to unaffected allies, gave 9/11 metal to his cronies, had a Republican prosecutor canned for investigating his buddies, held a 26M election to not have Booker on the same ballot as him...

I can go into Trump's 3500 lawsuits if you would like as well.

Clinton is no saint. In comparison to Christie and Trump she is the Queen of Ethics. And, Christie mysteriously deleted text messages as the lane closings happened and then claimed to lose his phone, meanwhile you want to talk about emails?

Rs may have had an argument about ethics with Kasich. Instead, they chose, in Marco Rubio's own words, the most vulgar person to ever seek the office of the Presidency.

Keep dreaming that dream. You Bridgers still are hilarious.

T2, Are they any different than birthers? Everyone has an agenda . The elected and the electorate.

Agreed. Nobody thought Trump could win the nomination and he proved them wrong. Democrats cannot afford to get complacent thinking Trump can't win, especially with a very unpopular Hillary running against him. I do think Obama would crush Trump if he were able to run - hey now, maybe it's time to amend that constitution...

Agreed, any "normal" D would crush Hillary, but Hillary is probably the most crooked major political figure in the country, so you never know! If Trump can just stop saying Trump-things, it would be very interesting this fall. Definitely close enough to preserve the R majorities in both houses of Congress (and that is the most important thing to happen).

If Trump could stop saying Trump things?

Then he wouldn't be himself, and he'd be presenting himself as something he's not.
Not sure which is a scarier scenario.

Having a President who says what Trump says, or one that doesn't tell you their real positions on issues (but then again, most swing in the wind with their positions anyway).

The big difference between Brexit and our election is the demographic, running a campaign appealing mostly to ethnic nationalism worked in Britain, barely, doing so in US is pretty much political suicide and will only get worse as the demo continues to evolve. Republicans were correct after losing 2012 that the party needs to broaden its appeals especially with women and Latinos, instead they went completely the opposite direction in this cycle under Trump. That said, the relatively weak candidacy of Clinton will play a role, the question is how much.

Did Hillary Clinton wanted to say at her speech in AC that Christie has been carrying Trump's jock strap everywhere but changed it at the last second to coat so to not piss off Republican men?

I still can't figure out what type of VP Trump will select. If you think about three varieties of VP picks:

"August," the VP pick that helps you unite the party and get the party behind you for the home stretch of the campaign. Example, George HW Bush as Reagan's pick;

"October," the VP pick that helps you appeal to the electorate as a whole, debates well, and will help tip the balance in your favor on Election Day. Example, Al Gore as Bill Clinton's pick;

"January," the VP pick that will be most effective in governing after the Inauguration. Example, Dick Cheney as George W Bush's pick.

A VP might not be just one of these types, but rarely are they all three, and usually one of these is the primary deciding factor.

Trump needs to unite and enthuse Republicans. He needs an August.
Trump needs to turn more independents and Democrats if he wants to win. He needs an October.
Trump knows little about, well, anything outside his business. He needs a January.
Add to that, Trump doesn't always do logical things, and I can't begin to guess who he picks.

Let's end this discussion, Trump won't be President and Christie won't be VP...it's a shame that folks are even having this discussion.

Oh, so you feel we shouldn't even have a democracy then. Gotcha!

That's certainly not a one line joke.
