OT-Christie Cancels Monday NJ Forum To Be With Trump. VP Announcement?

To expand on that, I think people are tired of both parties. The same types of people keep getting elected to office, taxes keep going up, jobs keep leaving the country, more and more money pours into political campaigns, the country is more divided after every presidential term, major problems are continually kicked down the road, candidates continually change where they stand based on the latest Twitter poll, etc, etc, rinse, wash, repeat.

This is the medias fault. The constant 24 hour news cycle, Internet blogs, radio talking heads ect.. won't allow for compromise from strict party platforms. They crucify anyone who moves to the center. Congress is held hostage by the extremes in each party. Imagine what would happen to a rank and file republican who gave in on gun control.
As s neutral observer, the republicans seem to be the most difficult on compromise. They have allowed the tea party to run over them. Prob why they are stuck with the Donald as the nominee and will likely be out of the White House 8 more years.

Let's end this discussion, Trump won't be President and Christie won't be VP...it's a shame that folks are even having this discussion.

KJ 24 hours before BREXIT nobody thought that would happen either. Long ago there was at least one simulation that had Trump beating Hillary. As bad a candidate Trump apparently is many either like both Trump's straightforwardness and/or his stance on many issues such as immigration and the economy. As experienced as Hlllary is lots don't like the Clintons and the Clintons seem to have enough of an ethical trail to turn many off. In my case I like some of what Trump has to say but don't think he's the proper messenger. Ironically for me its now that millions of jobs have been shipped overseas and weve allowed our economy to be destroyed by corrupt bankers and much too many immigrants-whicjh candidate best guarantes me my publc benefits? A sad situation with 2 masters drgrees, real estate license and security officer certificate. To a lot of people things can't go any or much worse so there s a dangerous/ inclination to say "WTF". Therein lies the "danger".

As much as I dislike Trump, Bush, Romney and the others ruined this party. I give Trump credit for doing the opposite of what everyone expects. His numbers keep rising when he pulls a George Constanza. I just think people are tired of the current Republican Party. In its current state, it will take a long time to ever win the presidency when people like Ted Cruz are front runners. As for Hillary, she just shows the young generation that if you are a Democrat, lying and deceiving works. With all events going on right now, the fall of America is here.

The destruction of the Republican Party has less to do with Bush and Romney and more to do with massive campaign contributions from unknown, unaccountable billionaire donors advancing a self-serving radical agenda that does nothing for the average person. That's why people like Ted Cruz are frontrunners and all the reasonable people have either been run out of the party or turned into kooks.

As far as Christie as VP, if true, it would be the first documented case of a rat swimming to a sinking ship.

Nice that CC has the time to go out of state in support of Trump while our Transportation Trust Fund is in crisis mode.
Not saying that it is all his fault, but it's an appalling like of leadership or misplaced priorities.

I still can't figure out what type of VP Trump will select. If you think about three varieties of VP picks:

"August," the VP pick that helps you unite the party and get the party behind you for the home stretch of the campaign. Example, George HW Bush as Reagan's pick;

"October," the VP pick that helps you appeal to the electorate as a whole, debates well, and will help tip the balance in your favor on Election Day. Example, Al Gore as Bill Clinton's pick;

"January," the VP pick that will be most effective in governing after the Inauguration. Example, Dick Cheney as George W Bush's pick.

A VP might not be just one of these types, but rarely are they all three, and usually one of these is the primary deciding factor.

Trump needs to unite and enthuse Republicans. He needs an August.
Trump needs to turn more independents and Democrats if he wants to win. He needs an October.
Trump knows little about, well, anything outside his business. He needs a January.
Add to that, Trump doesn't always do logical things, and I can't begin to guess who he picks.

Trump is already +10% with independents
Trump is already +5% with Hispanics compared to Romney
Trump only has ~75% of Republican support (according to polls)

All he has to do is get the remaining Republican vote and he wins the election quite easily. In the end I think those remaining 20-25% of Republicans will come around solely for the Supreme Court picks.

Hillary is doing a good job of alienating white people with her comments after Dallas.

What is he going to do? The fools in the legislature closed up shop and left town.

Christie gave Sandy funds to unaffected allies, gave 9/11 metal to his cronies, had a Republican prosecutor canned for investigating his buddies, held a 26M election to not have Booker on the same ballot as him...

I can go into Trump's 3500 lawsuits if you would like as well.

Clinton is no saint. In comparison to Christie and Trump she is the Queen of Ethics. And, Christie mysteriously deleted text messages as the lane closings happened and then claimed to lose his phone, meanwhile you want to talk about emails?

Rs may have had an argument about ethics with Kasich. Instead, they chose, in Marco Rubio's own words, the most vulgar person to ever seek the office of the Presidency.

Equivocating possibly lying about bridge lane closings to pressure some Democrat mayor of a town that went back on his word to what Hillary has done is ridiculous in the extreme.

The Clintons have routinely sold the county out to feather their nests. From allowing China to get key defense technologies to selling access while in the White House and as SecState and ling about Benghazi in order to hold onto power (she should have been drummed out of office and Obama on her heels for LYING about Benghazi after screwing up the response, costing lives of Americans).. anyone who believes Christie is worse is certifiably insane... but he is a jerk.

One of the talk shows this morning said Pence has a 95% chance of being picked Pence is Gov of Indiana.

Agreed. Nobody thought Trump could win the nomination and he proved them wrong. Democrats cannot afford to get complacent thinking Trump can't win, especially with a very unpopular Hillary running against him. I do think Obama would crush Trump if he were able to run - hey now, maybe it's time to amend that constitution...

I see this argument all the time, especially from hopeful Republicans. I'm not saying things cannot change between now and November, but your statement "nobody thought Trump could win" refers to the political chattering class. The fact is Trump led all polling throughout the primaries. In order to dismiss him, you had to dismiss the polls, which many did. In fact, that's what Nate Silver did when he infamously gave Trump a 5% chance of winning the nomination. The reality is that right now, Trump is losing...badly. Between 9-11% in the latest polls. So if you are a Trump supporter, you have to do all sorts of logical somersaults to come up with any scenario where he is even competitive.

So how does he flip the script? The VP pick is about the last hope. But a Democratic general who is pro-choice will lose the religious right. Christie is a RINO to most conservatives outside NJ and everyone hates him. Newt is the consummate insider. Pence is boring, but to Trump doubters, he's probably the perfect guy to give some legitimacy to the party and act as a stand-in president. Makes Trump look like he's deferring to his advisors and playing it safe.

if he really wanted to "flip the script" with VP and also make for a bigger draw amongst independents, conservatives, libertarians and some of the black vote, he'd ask Rand Paul to be his running mate.

Keep dreaming that dream. You Bridgers still are hilarious.

Benghazi indictments: ZERO
IRS indictments: ZERO
Fast and Furious indictments: ZERO

Former Christie Cronies indicted: FOUR and counting...and two pled guilty....

Still holding out hope CC was involved, eh Bridger? You Bridgers are crazier than birthers and truthers.

"The GW Bridge, he knew about it,” Trump said during a speech in Mount Pleasant, S.C., of Christie’s involvement in the scandal, which has been dubbed “Bridgegate.”

“How do you have breakfast with people everyday of your lives. … They’re closing up the largest bridge in the world … they’re with them all the time,” Trump continued. “They never said ‘Hey boss, we’re closing up the George Washington Bridge.’ No, they’re talking about the weather right? So he knew about it. … He totally knew about it.”

:joy:

Hey you know maybe on that 10th Benghazi investigation you'll find something.

The first Christie investigation returned 3 indictments. A 4th has recently come in on yet another Christie scandal.

Turn off Fox, before they are forced out on sexual harassment judgments anyway.

I hope Trump does pick CC for VP. Win or lose it will preoccupy him till at least 1/1/17. This will leave him with 12 months remaining as Govenor.

Chris Chistie is Trump errand boy but he doesn't mind it since he gets to go to McDonalds.

IMO, the VP picks are of minor importance. IMO, Roe vs Wade will be trumpeted loud by the Democrats and they will win the female vote by a large margin again, and in the important 'swing states' for the all impt electoral college votes. Plus the GOP simply can't win the minority vote, the under 30 vote, and the Jewish vote. Only so many angry , white males for the GOP. It worked for Trump to win the GOP nomination, not enough for the Presidential Election.

The Trump v Hillary debates should be Entertainment GOLD.
