Watching the first game between Utah and Butler. Neither team is playing defense and players are just throwing up wild shots. It's like watching a pickup game at the local park. This is what college basketball is becoming

Might be the dumbest idea ever. Guarantee you they all just wanna go home and/or hit the portal

Nope. They care. Money is on the line.

An incentive to play in the College Basketball Crown will be those that make it far in the tournament will get an NIL deal. The championship team will get a prize pool of a $300,000 NIL package. The runner-up gets a $100,000 prize pool package while the semifinalist get $50,000 prize pool package.

Interesting question.....

Is it illegal for a college player to throw a game?
A player would be banned from playing again in the NCAAs, but if it is a senior.

Yes, it's definitely illegal.

Legal Consequences

  • Sports Bribery Laws: Federal and state laws prohibit influencing the outcome of a sports contest for financial gain. The Sports Bribery Act (18 U.S.C. § 224) makes it illegal to bribe or attempt to influence players, coaches, or officials.
  • Gambling-Related Crimes: If betting is involved, players or others involved may face fraud, conspiracy, or wire fraud charges.

Watch the 30 for 30 playing for the mob!

Great documentary

attendance was dreadful for first night...about 2100 or so.
it’s definitely a made for tv event, not many fans here. The team rosters are a little sketchy, with some players having already declared for the portal and others too “ill” to play. But a good way to binge on live college basketball if you have the time.

Maybe they could put those cardboard cutouts of fans in the stands like they did during covid.
Watched a little bit of the Butler game yesterday and they
kept showing Fran McCaferty in the stands. I guess he was considered the biggest star? at the game? Slim pickins amongst the 2k

Anybody know what GG hasn’t played a second in either Nebraska game? Yes yes, it’s easy to say because he sucks and hardly played this year, I understand, but maybe he’s confirmed in the portal and he’s not with the team or being held out?

He has hardly played at all the entire second half of the season…..he is Gavin non grata there I guess

he’s been in sweats, sitting behind the Nebraska bench. Have not seen him warmup or in uniform. He does walk over to the huddles during timeouts. If I had to guess, he likely has told coach he’s goin to the portal. The Nebraska team has been playing well.

On a Nebraska forum someone reported he injured with an ankle injury. There is, btw, a lot of speculation he will not be back next season

Villanova/USC: announcer hysterically screaming..they are playing for a bag...get that bag in a poorly played game between 2 mediocre at best teams

Same in the first game between Cincy and UCF. Gus Johnson was obsessed with the $50K bag. Literally mentioned it every two minutes

Screaming Boise St woman back again. It's almost unbearable when Nebby is at the foul line. Does she sound like this in bed? I don't even see GG on the bench. Is he sitting further down past the walk ons?
