OT: Franco Harris passed away

One day short of the 50th anniversary of his Immaculate Reception catch, the Fort Dix born,NFL HOF'er has passed.

Was a signal sent to us from the Great Beyond by the ending of the Raider-Patriot game this past Sunday?

Great RB, but kinda tarnished his reputation with me with his undying commitment to paterno during the Sandusky trial. RIP

If he was that great a guy I hope he's in heaven, disappointed that he can't find his scumbag college football coach whom he openly wept for on TV and declared a saint when he was accused (and it was obvious) of turning a blind eye to child rape. Because that dirtbag is in Hell.

Just listened to his interview with Mad Dog yesterday. Eerily, his last words when the interview ended were “be well”.

Lydell Mitchell and Franco.
Great NJ high school, college and NFL players.
RIP Franco
Geez...PSU had a few running backs in the pipeline back then. Can you imagine having Franco and Lydell both playing at the same time...John Cappelletti in the wings???? Indeed, RIP Franco.

With Jack Tatum, Richard Wood, Eddie Hinton and Phil Vilapiano on defense.
Jim Kiick can fill in on offense.
Andre Tippett an NFL HOF’er

I think Tatum only would have overlapped with Franco for 1 year. He and Bruce Jankowski (Fair Lawn) were both 3 year starters for the Buckeyes in the same class.

Used to say in the early 70's "Can you imagine if Rutgers got serious about football and kept the talent at home? A backfield of Joe Theisman, Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell?"
Theissman played in Rutgers Stadium for the annual South River v New Brunswick Thanksgiving football games during the 1960s.

Keith Jackson used to say that every Saturday on ABC whenever someone from NJ made a play.

Benn saying that for over 40 years, always late to the game.

One of my Favorite players when I was a front running 10-ish year old Steelers fan.

(Later I grew up and started rooting for the home team Iggles)

RIP to one of the greats who is famous for more than the Immaculate Reception:

For everyone crying:

On the vanguard of The Cult and Defending The Saint.

He may have been an outstanding human being on all other fronts but he was first and foremost a brainwashed cultist. And damned proud of it.

Yeah anyone who saw it or knew about it should have been fired and held accountable for not going to the cops

no question the level of talent we export is staggering

to my knowledge, Graber had the best approach with the top 25 gathering

He was a big back for that era at 6'2" and 230lbs
Steelers OT/G Jerry Mullins was 6'3" 244
