Hey, All,

I know we're gearing up for Indiana, this Saturday, but I wanted to share an FYI on a fundraising walk that my daughter and I are doing on Nov. 14th, in Mendham, to raise awareness and $$ for Tourette Syndrome. The annual walk began about 6 years ago by a young woman in Mendham who had a younger relative with TS. My daughter has TS (as do I -- it's genetic), although the good news (as is the case for most TS kids) is that it doesn't interfere with her being a truly phenomenal, caring, loving, creative, and funny kid! Now, me on the other hand! : )

The money from the walk will be used to fund youth education and outreach programs throughout NJ, coordinated by the NJ Center for Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders (based in Somerville).

While there is fundraising component, I'm very interested in simply spreading the word about the Walk, and encouraging folks to share the info with anyone they know that is part of the TS family. I've included the general link for information, which includes links for anyone interested in registering and/or donating. My daughter has her own donation page, but the link below takes you to the general one. If anyone would like to connect on this, just let me know via this thread, and I'll gladly share email info and/or email you back. I know we all have great causes we help champion -- this is ours. Thanks for listening, and Go RU!

This is a cause I can get behind, it's awesome that you guys are doing this! Thanks for sharing :)

This is a good example of a local charity that is doing good things in its area. I have personally supported them for years. Good luck. $$$$

Chicken I normally volunteer for their events, I was a crossing guard in Mendham last year, but cannot make it this year. They do incredible work with very little $$. Tin Howard and Craig Carton give their time and money for these events in a big way. .Tell Faith and Leann that Joel says hello and will be at the next event. And Blitz if I ever see you at a game I am going to....give you a big hug..

Thanks for the kind words. F-Monk -- I'll definitely look to find the folks you mentioned. I've connected with them via email already, so hopefully I'll see them, there. I know that Tim Howard has been very out front about his Tourettes, and I hear Carton talk on the radio. My daughter's #1 inspiration has been James Durbin -- former American Idol contestant who has TS. She met him a couple years ago at a show in Freehold -- just a very kind, genuine guy. We were fortunate to recently connect with his publicist, and James actually posted on his Facebook page about my daughter and the TS walk -- pretty cool! Again, thanks!
