The USMNT came back from a 3-1 deficit in Amsterdam to beat the Netherlands 4-3.

This is a Big Deal for the progress of the US National Team.

On top of this the U20 Team made the round of 16 in the U20 World Cup and the U23 squad made the 3rd place game in the prestigious Toulon Tournament.

Things are looking up for US Soccer.

I was really impressed with that late forward sub -- the guy that's in college. He showed great strength taking the long ball away from the defender and getting a strong shot on net. Would love to see what he could do earlier in a game.

Overall, the Dutch showed they have simply amazing offensive talent, but their defense leaves much to be desired. I still find it funny listening to the ESPN foreign announcers who always seem to forget that Americans don't consider a 3-2 deficit with ten minutes left to go as a foregone conclusion. Great comeback!

Yedlin showed quality as a right winger also. Hopefully he comes good for Tottenham next season.

Did we beat them or didn't they pay FIFA enough?

great result. Just gotta keep building on games like this and not take steps backward. We have beaten spain, italy, netherlands, germany and many other giants. I think its time to stop being so surprised and making a huge deal of it and start behaving like we belong. This goes with RU football also. Don't be surprised when we land top guys or win big games - expect it and it will happen.

I'm a fan of Yedlin. He's showed a lot of promise. Bradley deserves mention too. He made some weak passes, but his creativity and drive led to the end result. At times, he truly looks world class.

and we won w/o Altidore or (my namesake) Dempsey !......................

I saw this match. US was lucky the Netherlands blew many great opportunities in the second half, slicing through what was a very poor US defense. (Don't know what it is about the second half lately)Then the Netherlands relaxed, Bradley made a big play, and things changed fast. I agree about winning without Altidore and Dempsey. But if our D doesn't improve a lot we're gonna have to score a lot of goals to compete.
Bradley is the Man.

Awesome win for the US against what was

You really can't take anything but good things from this match. the Netherlands had many missed opportunities but so did the US. This wasn't an A team from the Netherlands by any means, but most of their stars did play (all but Robben that I can think of). The US meanwhile, was without a ton of our top guys - Dempsey, Altidore, Bedoya, Jones, Cameron, Besler, Gonzalez - to name a few. So I would say this was a fair match, with the Netherlands actually being closer to their A team.

The US started two 22 year olds that have never played together at center back against one of the world's best teams. Obviously there were gonna be problems. However, from the group of Besler, Gonzalez, Brooks, Alvorado, and Orozco, I think we should be able to find a solid pair back there.

I liked what I saw from Yedlin, Zardes, Wood, and Morris, and I'm very excited to see what they bring in the future.
