OT: Jeff Hafley Leaves BC

Interesting quote…

“He wants to go coach football again in a league that is all about football,” a source close to Hafley told ESPN. “College coaching has become fundraising, NIL and recruiting your own team and transfers. There’s no time to coach football anymore."
That's a real issue. Saban left, Harbaugh left, all the rest are complaining about it.

I see about a dozen NJ kids as well as several from schools we do well with in NY, PA and MD on their roster. A few transfers would be nice.

I think Bill O’Brien would be a great choice and fit there. With no natural recruiting base, they need some type of draw, and his NFL ties would help.

ACC football HC is a stepping stone to becoming a coordinator in NFL whereas in the B1G it is a stepping stone for HC in NFL. Are you paying attention Syracuse fans (Fran Brown may become the next DC for the Giants).

I was shocked at BCs facilities. Their stadium is one step up from my high schools. Tough to recruit kids there, but they have their niche with Catholic schools. Going to be very difficult for them to be sustainably successful and their conference situation is uncertain. He saw the writing on the wall.

There was a report on the NFL network that Chip Kelly is getting NFL interest for OC positions. We’ll see what happens there. While NIL and Portal may have been a factior, Saban indicated in an interview that it is primarily an age issue. He didn’t want it to be year to year and thought that would be unfair to his players and staff. Harbaugh indicated he wanted to get back into the NFL before he was too old. Wants another shot at the Super Bowl. He has flirted with the NFL over the recent years.

You must have attended a large HS. And besides the Catholic connection they've got Boston.

Can't blame him but this is not good for college football. With his distaste for the transfer portal, I'm a little surprised Dabo's name has not been mentioned for NFL jobs unless he is not considered a good coach. A lot of his players are in the NFL.

Greg has said if you want to be the best football coach you can be, go to the NFL where you dont have to do all the cfb churn.

To bad he tackled QBs on kneel downs lol
Haley is getting out while the getting is good.
BC doesn't have the type of boosters that will be supportive enough to fund NIL deals that help programs bring intop recruits
On bull rushing a victory formation , forcing a fumble and having even just one chance
to turn a loss into a win is what Schiano does.
Everyoneshould realize why and not act so offended why. Game is 60 minuets and Greg ( with all his offensive faults some feel he has) plays his D to win the game if there's the slightest chance to win the game
if game is close and win was possible , he goes for the win even when the opponent was in a victory formation.
No chance of win, no going after the QB kneeling down to kill the clock

Troy-Oklahoma State in 2010?
O.K. State had the ball with a minute left and a three-point lead, and attempted to kneel to run out the game clock. But Brandon Weeden fumbled the snap, and the Trojans, sending their front three over the top, recovered the ball.

Also just recently the NO Saints faked a V formation
Leading 41-17 with 1:10 left, the Saints lined up in “victory formation” — indicating Winston intended to take a knee to run out the clock — but surprisingly handed off to Jamaal Williams for a 1-yard touchdown that made the final score 48-17.

The difference is Hafley had past NFL and DC experience. Fran Brown did not. No NGL teams going to hire him as a coordinator.

This is kind of an exaggerated analysis. Because I bet if Dabo Swinney wanted to try the NFL he could likely find a HC gig. It's not the conference that's the issue, it's the program.

everyone knows why.

And how many times did it not work? It literally a one in a million play. The thing that comes out hypocritical is he get on his high horse about protecting players by banning kick off then blitzes a kneel down. If he that worried about player safety why blitz a kneel down for something that on in a million chance. I completely understand why he hates kickoffs.

Fish Fieldhouse, BC’s football practice facility, is 5 years old and meets their needs for an indoor facility.

Al they have the magical $52 million indoor facility built 5 years ago that according to you poses magical recruiting powers. Remember you going on and on how it will transform Rutger’s recruiting?

It's trying to win if there's a slights chance.
Like it or not , coach's jobs are to win not accept losses if there's the slightest chance to win.
I understand why most don't like what Greg did, but if that one in a million shot came through he'd have been praised.

Winston and the Saints took flack, but they just were looking out for a teammate so he could earn some bonus money .
To each their own and I feel if there a chance to win, even a million to one shot : take it
Games out of reach, let the kneel go unmolested .

Would be a horrible hire. He hates recruiting

Their indoor facility is nicer than Miami’s

I don’t think he hated the recruiting as much as he hated kissing alumni ass and doing the baby kissing. I think his name and experience would be enough of a draw. Whoever they hire will struggling bring talent in. I would get someone who can maximize what they do have.

no it isn't. and once Miami builds its football operations center, they will have football facilities that are second to none.

Every HS coach I know says he hated it.
Joe Moorehead is who I would hire

I’ve been in both multiple times. Have you?
I don’t care what they are building. Right now it’s nicer. Miami’s weight room, they they share with all sports, is very underwhelming
