Went to see Jim Croce’s son, AJ, at the State Theater last Saturday and the show was fantastic. He is an excellent musician and sings just like his dad did. His other guitarist sounded remarkably like Maury, who was extremely talented and backed Jim. AJ played all the classics from his dad as well as a few of his own. Anybody else get to see the show? If you’re a Croce fan and get the chance while AJ is on tour I highly recommend going. As an aside, I “heard” Jim at the Philly Folk Festival in 1973, a month before he and Maury died in a plan crash. I say “heard” because it was the evening session on the third day and went back to the tent to crash—I regret not turning around and walking back to see him.

I saw him late 2023 at the Count Basie Theater. Was a little disappointed. Apparently he has a group of diehard fans of his original music that all showed up for the show, so he announced midset he would do a bunch of his new songs, so we didn't get as much Jim Croce as we expected based on previous and subsequent setlists. It was strange for a show called "Croce Plays Croce 50th Anniversary.

I know the Croce hits, and looking at last night's setlist, seems he covered the hits (am I missing something?)
Comparing the two shows, no Time in a Bottle at the Basie,

Not sure why the setlist at the Count Basie Theater was so abbreviated, or maybe not a full setlist?:

The Count Basie setlist is abbreviated because it doesn't list the middle songs he premiered that night. My guess is whoever posted the setlist didn't know the names. Our show was about 50/50 Jim/AJ while most shows are 75/25.
