OT: Lady Gaga Tribute For David Bowie at the Grammy Awards

Exactly! Stop holding out.
Not sure what your point is, RaRa. I have a friend whose scholarly career has focused in large part on David Bowie, along with other issues in rock. He's just published a book on Bowie. This is a thread about Bowie, and I figured that Bowie fans might be reading the thread, so I thought I'd put in a short plug for my friend's book. I don't see the harm there. If you don't like my posts, please put me on ignore. No need for personal attacks.

Methinks RaRa was just GaGa over Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fashion and sincerely wanted to hear more.

There wasn't anything in my post attacking you, Skillet--never been my style, and I've been an admirer of yours since you started posting. I was having lighthearted fun with you, that's all, in a wanting-to-know-more-about-what-you-know kind of way.

My buddy's story is an interesting one. He got into Bowie as a kid during a really tough time in his life (not telling tales out of school -- big newspaper article on him down here), and found solace in glam rock. Did his PhD thesis on it, and used to do shows under the name "Dr. Glam." Fairly well known down here. Way over the top glam stuff. He would also do shows at local high schools encouraging kids who were getting harassed for being different (nerds, emos, etc. -- I'm too old to keep up with everything) to find their own ways in life. Really great guy and I'm happy his book is out with a good scholarly publisher. I think if one were a real Bowie afficienado (which in all honesty, I'm not), it might be a really good read.

Seriously? You weren't ragging on me? In that case, my sincere apologies. Abject apologies.
Definitely not ragging, was wanting the skinny on Bowie from your friend's perspective that can best be gleaned around a campfire. Apology accepted, and balance has been restored. :-)

Here is an article about my friend and Bowie's death.

And again, sorry I misread your post. This is a great board and I would hate to have anyone p***ed at me!

And here is one from two years ago showing my friend in his performance attire!

Will read the article tomorrow, as it's getting late in the northern hemisphere and I'm not the young American I used to be. ;-) And I've yet to see anything you've ever posted that would cause someone to be pissed at you, so there's that. Gute nacht!!

IMO both Gaga and Hollywood Vampires were awful.

The reason Jackson Brown sang w the Eagles was because of the Glen Frey tribute. Before they made it big, both Brown and Frey lived in a dumpy house writing songs. Brown started the song 'Take it Easy' and had writers block and couldn't finish it, he gave it to Frey, who finished the writing and turned it into a hit for The Eagles.
I guess you listen to Howard Stern. I heard that in his interview which was very enjoyable.
