Axios reports that 145 athletes at the University of Texas earned $5 million on NIL deals between last August and mid-February. That's more than twice the amount they earned the entire previous academic year. Football players earned $2.7 million of that $5 million. Star running back Bijan Robinson has had a deal with Lambrogini and is marketing his own mustard brand. https://www.axios.com/2023/03/14/ho...il&utm_campaign=newsletter_axiospm&stream=top

Axios reports separately that two college basketball players (one male, one female) are featured in an ad by Goldman Sachs urging Congress to re-authorize (that is, modernize) the Small Business Administration. Undoubtedly Goldman Sachs paid the players for that.

Lol that the last thing this fanbase wants to hear. Crickets crickets. Lol. Let’s make a one word thread instead or a stock market thread where everyone can tell you how smart they are.

And they will continue to under achieve in football and by joining the SEC have signed up for 7-8 win seasons as they slip into mediocrity.

Texas can afford 5mill for college athletes but the state can’t keep the lights on whenever they get a storm.
Keep in mind that the $5 million is not being paid by the State of Texas. It's being paid by whoever (inside or outside of Texas) has voluntarily chosen to contract with these athletes for use of their name, image, or likeness. I emphasize that because there seems to be a huge amount of misunderstanding of what NIL is about.

They’ve been pretty mediocre the last 12 years. They just always get the preseason hype and rankings that somehow keep them relevant. But once the season starts they haven’t done anything noteworthy since Vince young was there
