holy crap what a game between UCLA and Oregon, both are top 10 teams IMHO. Ball was uncanny in the 2nd half and I'll just leave this dagger here

PAC12 has three teams that can make the Final Four. UCLA is super fun to watch.

And Brian Taylor once had 84 for Perth Amboy.
But you're right about UCLA being a fun watch. I enjoy Gonzaga too.
The west rules in hoops for now.

As I had mentioned in a previous thread PA had a run of great players for a while. the Taylor brothers, Chad Kinch.

Lonzo Ball's younger brother, who is only a sophomore in HS and who has already committed to UCLA may even be better. He just scored 92 points the other night. Unbelievable.

Love Lonzo Ball, he's my favorite freshman. I DVR'd that game just to hear the greatness that is Bill Walton

Love Bill Walton-----how great was the T-Shirt he was wearing ?

Picture of Dick Enberg in the corner with a large " Oh My " covering the front of it.

Priceless.

BT did it with no three point shot.

Yep. And if I'm remembering correctly after all these years Brian Taylor primarily scored so many points because it was a big County matchup and most if not all of the other starters were sick or injured.
It was a special time for Middlesex County athletics. Brian Taylor for Perth Amboy, John Somogyi for St. Peter's(NB), Gary Brokaw for New Brunswick, Dave Wohl for East Brunswick, and Joe Theismann and Drew Pearson for South River.

The PAC12 is the Conference of Champions, and it is not even close.

UCLA is #1 with 113 titles
Stanford is #2 with 111
USC is #3 with 103
CAL is #10 with 36
Oregon is #13 with 31

BTW, after USC you drop all the way down to 51 titles.
It might not be the conference of basketball champions, but their motto, which Bill uses is for all sports.
They have more than every other conference combined. Total domination.

I think you mean Will Pennyfeather. He ended up playing in the big leagues for a short time. This was in the mid 80's. Could Wayne have been an older brother?
Teamed with Andre Heard to form a dynamic duo for the Panthers of the 84-86 era.

Yes Perth Amboy was super in B-Ball for quite a while under Coach Bugs. Now they don't seem to excel in any sports but I could be wrong. I see my Linden boys drew them in the first round of the states. The youngest of the 3 Taylor boys still went to PA after his family moved to the heights of Edison. He was often shooting on a hoop in front of his home and several of my friends lived a few houses away from him. He should have been at EHS.

That was Blake Taylor, who went to Arizona State. Blake is the all-time leading scorer at Amboy to this day. They had a great run in hoops. From the early 60's through the mid 90's. Last great team was the 93 team with Jose Urena, Adam Rivera and Ra Shun Roberts. Sadly, Amboy is now pretty bad at all sports. Demographics changed to mostly Hispanic.

Outside of RU, that was the first game I have watched all the way through. Great game by two good teams with serious talent.

UCLA is NC sleeper.

I remember that team well. I was coaching in the GMC then and we upset PA in one of those sleepy Saturday afternoon games in February. John Maz was ther coach back then. Thought he was a pretty good guy.

Maz, is a great guy. He is a big RU fan. I felt bad for him, he replaced Bugsy and had great success, but could never win he big one. I think he was like 1-7 in GMC FINALS.

West coast teams bite the dust when the action slows down and teams play defense. They win YMCA tourneys. They are as soft as a sneaker full of youknowwhat. Still love Bill Walton. I think he is an Al McGuire lovechild.
