OT: Louisville Presser - 1:30

In a year when anyone can win the tourney and most wide open in years and at 18-4, this must be really really bad to ban themselves.

I agree. But its a way to save face and not have to fire their hall-of-fame coach. So sad.

ha... a self imposed slap on the wrist. And they will likely get away with it.

Steve Lappas calling this weak, that if L'ville was serious the ban would be after Next season, then it would hurt next years recruiting, all they did was screw the kids on this years team.

wasn't Louisville's athletic department supposed to be our role model when we hired our last AD --what a laugh

So you're saying that Pitino's crocodile tears for this year's seniors are fake? ...that Louisville's calculated action to throwing them under the bus is being done to protect next year's recruiting class. An honorable man would never do such a thing. Sure he, might give a woman a few grand to abort his child, sure he might arrange prostitutes for teenage recruits, but fake sympathy for players he'll have no use for in a month? That's hard to believe.

I'll repeat what I said under the FB forum thread..he probably had a team meeting and asked the players.."hey, would you like to play in the tourney or get laid this year instead so we can get this thing behind us?" [banana] they most have voted for the latter.

Pathetic. I can't wait for the NCAA to take away past victories. That really hurts a program.

If I were Western Kentucky U, I would be preparing for something close to the death penaly.

“The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky it will probably slap another two years probation on Cleveland State.’’

What about North Carolina ? I guess they are hoping people just forget about them.

Don't worry, the NCAA is going to drop the hammer on the North Carolina women's basketball and men's soccer programs so hard that it will make the rafters in the RAC shake.

This is a joke. NC has been skating by for what over 3 years now for having courses offered for over a decade when students, many who were athletes got outstanding grades for never even attending a class. We heard last summer that nothing would probably be done until after the Final Four because NC's B-Ball team was rated so high and had a great chance to make the Final Four. ESPN and the NCAA just love the ACC.

Pitino is a mealy-mouthed and scummy liar, I say. And his press conference comment that he has never seen anything so harsh as this penalty ... RIDICULOUS. The self-administered penalty is MILD, actually. The NCAA should penalize them even more ... like a multi-tear post-season ban, and loss of scholarships. Heck, RU lost scholarships (in basketball, football and a couple of other sports) back in the late 1990's and early 2000's WITH NO EVIDENCE of any wrong-doing, but due to a self report to the NCAA about a lack of accountability STRUCTURE on academic controls: Though RU found no evidence that any student athletes actually received any advantages.

If the rules cannot or will not be enforced, then lose the rules.
