I'll preface this by saying I absolutely love Michael Jordan and the Jordan Brand. However, Michigan football being branding by Jordan is off the walls retarded. It literally makes no God damn sense whatsoever. Michigan loves to try and do things that they think are soooooooooo cool then continue to brag about how cool it is. In what universe do football cleats with a Jordan logo make any sense at all? It's so Michigan it hurts and it makes the Jordan Brand look stupid. I hope this team shits the bed so badly this year.

I wear Nikes, but I have never associated the Jordan brand with good shoe designs, so I don't associate that brand with quality at all.

The Jordan brand shoes I remember had garish designs.

But, sure, the overall simplicity of a Michigan uniform is never going to be something that anyone thinks looks bad.

This is pretty cool. I agree that the unis look sharp. Let's be honest. If this happened at Rutgers, we'd be giddy as hell.

I'm not gonna pass on the opportunity to bash Harbaugh though. This is a quote from the ESPN article: "I look at Michael Jordan as one of humanity's most evolved human beings of all time," Harbaugh said. "The chance to be on a team with Michael Jordan, to share a sideline ... that was something that was going to be a win all the way."

"One of humanity's most evolved human being of all time"? What does that even mean? It makes no sense at all.

It's also eyebrow raising that MJ went to Michigan instead of UNC.

Disagree with the OP. Nice move by Michigan. It is about what the kids want and Jordan's still have that it factor with many. If it gives them another recruiting tool it makes all the sense in the world.

No, no it's really not.

It's a brand logo. No more stupid than an image of an Apple on an electronic device. Plus you should see the players reactions to their new cleats and such. It goes well beyond the jerseys.

Besides, I like to think of this as being the Jordan silhouette;

Also, the Jordan logo on the jerseys is actually less intrusive than the Under Armour and especially Adidas logo. I really don't see why people care one way or another. It was MJ's idea too and he personally pitched it to Harbaugh, so maybe you should take an issue with him as well.

The only thing I don't like about the Jordan thing is some of the t-shirts look dumb because of the placement of the Jordan logo and they made it too big on some. But there's plenty of shirts with the Nike logo or the Jumpman logo on the back neck area which is much better.

Either way whether it's Adidas, Nike, Jordan etc. I could not care less.

This is good news for us; should make Adidas hungrier as we head toward a new apparel contract and get us a better look.

Not sure how much of a recruiting bonus the Jordan brand will be with kids. High schoolers now were toddlers during Jordan's last days with the Wizards.

Chuck Taylor died 46 years ago and his brand is immensely popular.

Jordan shoes literally have midnight launches with people camping out and lined up around the block.

I don't get it either but you can't downplay it.

The kids "wanted" those ridiculous abominations we just got rid of so no it's really not.

not sure what our uniforms have to do with michigans.

That said even excluding the uniforms it now means they will get Jordan branded cleats, warmups, bags, etc. just another perk for them. As the post above notes that brand is still a huge hit causing lines, fights, etc on release days. It matters at least a little.

The further away we get from Jordan's playing days, the bigger the legend he becomes.

He's literally basketball's Pele.

Jordan sneakers are declining in popularity and the camp outs are a thing of the past.

I don't get it either. I think it would be cool for basketball uniforms but makes no sense for football uniforms. Should I be excited if Greg Norman branded football uniforms? It would be cool for the golf team.

And now this;

I thought the notion that this was a huge recruiting boost was a little far fetched but now I'm wondering.
Of course they are excited and it new. I have seen video of players getting excited over every brand of uniform. It not going to be a huge recruiting boost. They did surveys of recruits and uniforms always were dead last in reason they pick a school. It unique this year but next year more schools will be wearing them. It just like the pro combat uniforms. Oregon was the first and the next year a bunch of schools where wearing them.

Having a basketball logo all over a football uniform is absurd. However if their students and fans like it then so be it. It doesn't effect us.

I think it's fair to say that the Jordan logo is iconic and transcends sports. Seeing it on a football jersey takes a little getting used to, but I don't see a compelling reason that it should be limited only to basketball-related products. This is good business for Nike and U of M alike, and the PR/reaction aspect of this has been excellent.

And Harbaugh no longer has to go to Target for his Kaki Dad Pants. Nike is making them for him now.

really? why in the world would you care what michigan does? nothing they do affects rutgers in any way. one day you might have a team that does big things, but is hating on everbody else all you have to do?
Goodness gracious someone's sensitive...

Totally disagree with the OP. Great move by Harbaugh/Michigan. A kid isn't going to choose a school because of jerseys (believe me), but the Jordan brand is about as "cool" as it gets. Not sure there is any negative spin on it.

Kids are still totally into Jordan or his shoes - we had to hold up our vacation over Memorial Day weekend so my nephew could participate in the Jordan "Flu Game" sneaker release...not to actually buy the shoes - just to get the opportunity to lay down 200 bucks for them.

Crazy but kids are still into Jordan or his shoes even today.
