Kansas State went 16-17 last season, and was 9-11 in the Big 12. It was reported that Kansas was interested in getting Bashir as well.

Damn. RU is toast.
At least RU is not Kansas!

Dummy Feeling Dumb GIF

Bashir is the type of go to scorer that Rutgers needs for next season because he made 3 pointers at a high level as seen at the RAC

Where are the rankings for portal spend? If there's no way of knowing what players are getting, how can we know what schools are paying?
just from various articles and podcasts...they spent $2 million alone on Coleman Hawkins and that was put out by multiple sources

likely close to a miillion on former Michigan player Dug McDaniel

Indiana also among top 5 that didnt make tourney

So just speculation based on reports of one player, which aren't official.

no the Coleman Hawkins thing is common knowledge and he lamented the fact that it got out.
Most of the reports I've seen have all used nonspecific language like "upwards of", "around", "reportedly", etc. I'd assume it was generally around that figure, especially given his comments, but it's not like an exact figure was ever confirmed.

But extrapolating that out to the whole team spend... and further to how they rank among 300+ schools... is just idle guesswork.

That doesn’t sound right at all…

Is the stuff published on ON3 complete BS? They list out some of the top NIL valuations that you can see for free and he’s not on there.

There are no real numbers anywhere, agents are leaking phony amounts that are usually much higher then reality hoping to cash in on future signings & coaches are whispering much lower levels trying to keep the market as low as possible. Any numbers you read, regardless of from where, are BS

ON3’s numbers are based on an algorithm that they want you to believe can accurately predict what’s happening in reality. I wouldn’t rely on anything they publish for NIL.

I still think anyone paying Hawkins $2 M is grossly overpaying for his services.

there are literally articles written about it and Hawkins is lamenting it got out

i still want to know why posters are arguing that Kansas State was not top 5 in nil last year despite Norlander, Goodman and a host of others staying they were and instead want to argue for the sake of arguing with zero facts of their own to dispute it

its his valuation I believe not including the deal...even though it says its 800K..no he turned down 1.5 million offers...sources confirmed to cbs and fox sports so I will take their word there..there is no reason they would inflate the number after the fact

if it was 800k he would have stayed at illinois

Because it is also based on zero facts.

There are zero official facts about actual nil deals. There are scant news reports about individual player leaks and "a source close to..." or whatever. But nothing anywhere close to approaching a full picture where a ranking of spend could happen.

There are literally hundreds of articles

Then nothing is ever believable

Indiana and Kansas State were 2 of top spends..if you dont believe it its on you

We don't even know officially how much Harper or Bailey got, and they are on our team. And how much of that was Rutgers spending on them, and how much came from other sources.

There is zero way to make an argument about "top 5" in spend with the scarcity of information we have.

The information is out there and there are things such as college hoops reporters who report on this

The plural of anecdote is not data.

There is a small percentage of players out there where a "close to real" number has been reported with some level of validation, and that's usually for big name transfers.

We're guessing at even our own team. Let alone the other 360+

You mentioned Norlander, who here reports on a survey of coaches re: NIL situations... and clearly indicates no one knows and reports shouldn't be trusted

JT Toppin is expected to be paid ~$4 million in NIL earnings at Texas Tech next season, a source tells CBS Sports.

Who are the so called sources????? Anyone can make up a number & be a source, since there is no way to dispute the number, since no one knows

Yup and that one makes complete sense. Total difference maker.

$2M for the 4th scoring option on a K-State team that didn’t make the NCAA tournament does not.

coleman hawkins isnt in the portal any more. its this past season

Right sorry. I was pulling up this years stats but even at Illinois he was not worth that. His stats that year offer a glimmer of hope that maybe some of our guys can have one year of good shooting for us like JY did.

Thats all it really was - in 3 of 4 years Hawkins was a terrible FT shooter and bad from 3. Just that one junior year. Shooting is volatile.
