OT: My wife could use some good thoughts/prayers (updated 4/7)

Latest update waiting on new scans (today) then she starts 12 week round of chemo. They are also looking to see if she can get a chemo pump directly to her liver ( trial). Fingers crossed. She is my rockstar. Staying strong and positive. When doc asked her today how is she feeling she said good. Doc then asked mental state…..any “bad” feelings. She laughed and said no but my husband and daughter do. Proud to say we all signed up for counseling. MSK is just amazing. Thank you again for not only your support, but also the info many of you have provided. Mrs. Bird(Terry) and I (Jay) can’t thank you all enough.❤️

Continued prayers. You’ve got this!

😢

(hmm. emoticon doesn't quite do it.. that is to say, first time reading this thread.. tears and prayers for you all. It is heartlessy all too common.)

Exactly what so many of you have said. My wife getting her first treatment after getting port yesterday. MSK has been amazing. I actually cried and hugged the nurse. I just felt this overwhelming sense of relief. I know we have a long road ahead but they all make you feel safe, cared for, listened to. My wife told the nurse I am taking it hard. Nurse said that she could see that and that she knows what a good heart I have. Taking care of my wife is my top priority for them and they are doing an outstanding job. Looking out for my daughter and me……..wow. Incredible. Angels all around us

Stay strong you have the RU community rooting for you and Mrs.Bird
Stay positive and expect the best results to happen.
You and MSK's priority is to make your wife as comfortable as can be while the treatment she receives does its job , returning your wife yo good health

Funny thing from the first treatment. We were both exhausted whole first day was about 5 hours. Our nurse was great hugged us both. As we walk out of the room I hear a deep voice behind us say “I love your jacket and your matching backpack”. I turn around and there is this very tall young man decked out in RU gear. Told me he loved the school so much he named his daughter Scarlet. Told him the story of getting our dog. Daughter picked her, my wife loves Chocolate ( she is a Chocolate Havenese). I got to pick the name. Rutgers got vetoed but Scarlet won out. Got a big handshake and smile from him. Wished us best of luck.

Glad to hear the 1st one went well. It’s the most stressful one due to all the unknowns. The in-between is just as important. Let the body and mind to recover. Praying for you guys.

So I know I have been “over caring” for her and she needs space. Told I her I would like to go to the Spring game. She told me to go. Need to show our daughter that we all need to live life to the fullest. Thanks for all the prayers. One treatment down and she is doing well.
