Just diagnosed with cancer. She is my angel. Beautiful inside and out. Has put up with me for 35 years. Biggest RU fan besides me. On top of that has had her dad at 92 living with us who has dementia and diabetes. Also her 62 year old brother who is on the autism spectrum. My daughter is taking it real hard. My apologies as my posts may have been a little off lately. Appreciate you letting me get this out there. ❤️

That's an awful lot for you both to bear, and I'm sorry to hear it. She and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. And I think the post by @kupuna133 above mine is right on: Don't be afraid to ask for or accept help. I think people generally want to help out in these situations, but they aren't always sure how to best do it. Tell them.

My prayers for your wife in the hope they will help and I will pray for you and your family to find the strength inside you to help you keeping faith in knowing your wife will beat this deadly disease and
return to a normal healthy life with her loving family and friends.

I will also pray for seeing in the near future all of our prayers for your wife were answered so I can put a smiley face on your update with the good news

My 40 year old wife was diagnosed in January of 2024. To say it's been a LONG year would be an understatement. Surgery, chemo, radiation, drug after drug, we're still going through it. It's a long road, but there are little milestones along the way to celebrate. Trust your doctors, don't be afraid to push and advocate for yourself.
We live in Monmouth County and have become regulars at the Sloan Kettering in Middletown. Don't be afraid to look for 2nd opinions if you dont' like the initial plan.
If you have any questions, not sure how much of a help I'd be, but feel free to message me directly and I'm happy to help. Until then, I'll be praying for you guys.

Prayers for your wife

MrScrew has been dealing with cancer since mid-November. Surgery, chemo, radiation.
Long & arduous process but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Please, Make sure you & your daughter make time to take care of yourselves. Even if it's an hour for lunch out or a walk arond the block. Caregivers are important to the process & need to make time for their own well being. When someone offers to drive, cook, sit with your wife/FIL. Take them up on it. Neither of you are super heros & you will get worn down quickly.

My heart goes out to you and your family! I know the feeling well as my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 at age of 44.

As you can see above similar situation. Also live in Monmouth county and my wife was practically
Living at that Sloan Kettering in Middletown. She still had to go often for bloodwork and drugs. Never ends and very traumatic experience.

Prayers sent for your wife and for you and your daughter. She sounds like an amazing woman and we can’t afford to lose people such as her. From personal experience, I do believe prayers can help.

Mrs. Screw— I just prayed for you both. Give Mr. Screw my best and let him know I’m cheering him on.

So sorry to hear this man. Praying for you and and your wife and your family to help you through this difficult time

Very sorry to hear this Bird. Stay strong. I'll add you to the weekly prayer list in church. And as others have said, don't hesitate to reach out for help here - we have an eclectic group that can get testy at times, but we also have a lot of connections and may be able to help in some cases.

Very sorry to hear this Mrs. Screw. I will keep you guys in my prayers. And that is great advice about help for caregivers. Thankfully, Mr. Screw is in good hands with you.

Stay strong and keep fighting. One day at a time. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000 at age 35 with a recurrence the following year. The oncologist told us to go home and enjoy our daughters who at the time were 6 and 2. Well, we did....and continued to. Here we are in 2025, my wife just celebrated her 60th birthday. And still gets treatment (herceptin) every 3 weeks.

Prioritize your family first, everything else takes a back seat.

And please reach out if you need any advice from a "veteran" like me.

More people to add to our prayer book. 🙏

@RuBird, you know already you have someone upstairs looking out for you and your family. Hopefully she can help us out in the B1G tournament too, just like the UCan't game so many years ago. 😉

@gmay8, one of my men's wives has had great success at the Sloan in Middletown. Hopefully you guys do too.

@MrsScrew, please make sure you take some of your own advice and take a break too when you need it.

Stories I need to hear. Thank you and prayers to you and your wife. The main issue I deal with is I lost my dad 30 yrs ago and mom 10 to cancer. Hard for me not to view this as. Death Sentence. Stories like yours and others in this thread give me hope and certainly are helping me stay strong. Thank you again!

Have shared your responses with my wife. We both thank you so much for your support

So I was going to hold off on season football tickets. Minute she heard that I was scolded. Then she asked if our basketball team was going to make the NCAA tournament and of course I had to say most likely no. Also told her that some on this message board were going to give up their tickets. She said…..”Good that means we have a chance at getting them next year!” Ever a reason for me to stay strong❤️. Like I said she is the second biggest fan next to me😎
