Karma, if Brands was trying to dodge a very impressive looking VT squad.

Think that was sour grapes on VT coach's part...It was known well beforehand that the rankings would determine who wrestles who...NC St. while losing to VT still finished ahead of them in the rankings...

Good Points, VT would have faced Iowa if they didn't lose to Iowa state earlier in the season. This places more importances on duals.

I haven't looked into all of the nonsense about iowa/VT, but the NWCA selection criteria said it was the dual meet champion from each of the other conferences. Didn't say anything about rankings.

The big difference here was the NC State 285 guy made the Iowa wrestler default while he was losing 8-1. I think Iowa was winning 17-15 going into that bout but NC State would have won 18-17 or 19-17. Iowa had a few majors.

It was the top 8 B1G teams vs. the champs from the other 7 major conferences and 1 at large... Match ups were determined based on rankings... VT coach is claiming that the rankings were fixed...

Gwiz (NC state 285) was a big fav to win the match and cinch the dual. The big swing match was Renda over Brooks. Jack getting a tech was a surprise too.
